Industrial Technology Metal

Course Description

This course involves the study of metal technologies and the design CAD, documentation, construction and evaluation of projects in a range of metals.

Practical projects in Year 9 include a Sheet Metal Pencil Box, Toolbox, and a Brazier.

Practical projects in Year 10 include a Bush BBQ and Carry Case, the last project is a Major Project where students research, design, complete a material list and make the project.

Please note: Students have to buy there own steel for the Major Project

What will students learn?

Students will learn various types of metal working skills by using a variety of hand tools and will be introduced to Sheet Metal Pattern Development, Machining on Lathes, Fabricating techniques using Gas Metal Arc and Oxy – Acetylene sets. The course also covers theory topics based around environmental and societal issues such as metal recycling and steel production.
