TVET for School Students

TAFE NSW delivered Vocational Education and Training (TVET) courses can be taken up through TAFE NSW while you are still at school. They contribute to your Year 11 and 12 Higher School Certificate (HSC) program and offer the same unit value as other HSC elective subjects. TVET subjects do not contribute to an ATAR.

The following courses run mostly on a Wednesday 1-5. Travel is subsidised. If course run outside this time, students will need to organise their own travel.

  • ELECTROTECHNOLOGY ( Cert 11 ) May be used towards ATAR.

  • HUMAN SERVICES (Nursing) ( Cert 111 ) (May be used towards ATAR)

  • BUSINESS SERVICES (Cert 11) May be used towards ATAR.

  • INFORMATION AND DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY (Networking and Hardware). ( SoA). May be used towards ATAR.

  • INFORMATION and DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY (Animation) (SoA) (May be used towards ATAR)

  • TOURISM, TRAVEL & EVENTS (Events) ( Cert 111 ). May be used towards ATAR.

  • TOURISM, TRAVEL & EVENTS (Tourism) (Cert 111). May be used towards ATAR

  • EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION and CARE ( Cert 111 )


  • ANIMAL STUDIES ( Cert 11 ) Runs over one year. 4u by 1. Students will need to make their own way to TAFE. Wed 9-4, Wollongbar.

  • BEAUTY SERVICES - Make Up ( Cert 111 ). Runs over one year. 4 u by 1. Students will need to make their own way to TAFE. Wed 9-3, Wollongbar.

  • SALON ASSISTANT ( Cert 11 ). Runs over one year. 3u by 1. Students will need to make their own way to TAFE. Wed 9-3. Wollongbar

  • BAKING ( SoA ). 2u by 1. Runs over one year.

You can only study ONE TVET course.

COST: $250 per year 2u for two years, or $500 per year if all 4 units are completed in one year, ie a 4 by 1 course

Cut off for the year is usually at the end of January. Students who withdraw from an enrolled course after this date will be asked to pay this fee.
