What is Communities In Schools?
CIS is the nation’s leading organization that champions the connections of needed community resources with schools to help students successfully learn, stay in school, and prepare for life. CIS Site Coordinators are housed on school campuses to help create a support system for students. CIS Site Coordinators provides direct services to students and brings resources, volunteers, and service providers into schools and enables them to work as a coordinated team.
How can CIS help Students?
CIS can provide: Tutoring; Homework support; After school activities; self-esteem and anger management support; Mentoring; College and career exploration; Parental Involvement; Job and career preparation; Support to address personal issues; Improve student’s grades and attendance; Improve students behavior and attitude towards school and life.
How can CIS help parents?
CIS can provide: Parental support and guidance; Referrals to community agencies for counseling, employment information, and basic needs. CIS can also serve as a link for healthcare and/or medical issues with community services (i.e. medical, dental, vision).
How can students join CIS?
Sign a Parent Consent form for your child and return it to the CIS Site Coordinator.
