The Townshend Acts taxed tea, glass, lead, paint, and paper. All were repealed except for the tax on tea. As a result of so many colonists rebelling against taxes, more "Redcoats" were posted in the colonies. In order to make room for all of the new troops, colonist were forced to quarter (house) them in their homes.
