Academic learning at home resources have been created to provide opportunities for students to engage in meaningful learning experience during the school closure. Below you will find a list of activities that your child can complete both independently and with your support.
Learning Logs are to be completed each day when work is done. These logs will be turned in at the end of the week to your teacher. Your teacher will be in contact with you this week. If you have any questions, please contact your teacher.
Determine whether the set of data shown below displays exponential behavior. Write yes or no. Explain why or why not. See table to right.
Suppose a certain cell reproduces itself in four hours. If a lab researcher begins with 50 cells, how many cells will there be after one day, two days, and three days? (Hint: Use the exponential function y=50(2x).)
Graph each function. Find the y-intercept and state the domain and range. See graphs and functions at right.
Multiplying and Dividing Rational Expressions
Simplify each expression.

Circles
Find the length of arc AB . Round to the nearest hundredth. See circle to right.
Write the equation of the circle: center at (0, 0), diameter 18
State the coordinates of the center of the circle and the measure of the radius. Then graph the equation. See graph to right.
Sadie wants to draw a clock face on a circular piece of cardboard. If the clock face has a diameter of 20 centimeters and is divided into congruent pieces so that each sector is 30°, what is the area of each piece?
Pythagorean Theorem
A building inspector needs to determine if two walls in a new house are built at right angles, as the building code requires. He measures and finds the following information. Wall 1 measures 12 feet, wall 2 measures 14 feet, and the distance from the end of wall 1 to the end of wall 2 measures 18 feet. Do the walls meet at right angles? Explain.
You are buying a ladder for your 30-foot-tall house. For safety, you would always like to ensure that the base of the ladder be placed at least 8 feet from the base of the house. What is the shortest ladder you can buy and still be able to reach the top of your house?
You own a summer home on the east side of Lake George in New York’s Adirondack Mountains. To drive to your favorite restaurant on the west side of the lake, you must go directly south for 7 miles and then directly west for 3 miles. If you could go directly to the restaurant in your boat, how far is the boat trip?
