Academic learning at home resources have been created to provide opportunities for students to engage in meaningful learning experience during the school closure. Below you will find a list of activities that your child can complete both independently and with your support.
Learning Logs are to be completed each day when work is done. These logs will be turned in when school resumes. Your teacher will be in contact with you this week. If you have any questions, please contact your teacher.
Read and write every day! Choose a self-selected book to read independently. Record the title of the book/text and the pages read each day in your learning log.
Find and watch a TED Talk or TED Talks by Brilliant Kids and Teens on a subject that interests you. Download the transcript of the TED Talk or TED Talk by Brilliant Kids and Teens and analyze how they structured the speech. What made it effective? What was the speaker’s main point? How did they build and support that point? Did they use cause-effect structure or problem-solution? Answer these questions, using evidence from the TED talk to support your answers.
Research a topic that interests you and find ways of keeping up with information that is meaningful to you. Build a spreadsheet of information if you that will help you. Write down notes as you research. You may use a note-taking app like Evernote, One Note or Google Keep. Create graphs or graphic organizers to organize the information.
Consider what this information means to you. Consider how this information/knowledge makes you a more informed citizen.
Create a google slideshow, or a blog post, or a Youtube video, etc. to share your research and convey how it makes you a more informed citizen. (share with your teacher or send a link via email).
