How Heavy?
By Cameron Morris
I wonder, how heavy was the crown that Jesus wore?
Was it resistant to him,
keeping his head from looking to our father in heaven?
Did the crown feel heavy, as if carrying all humanity's sins,
unfound in his divine nature, while completing his mission
of an Eternal Covenant made with the Father?
How heavy did the crown feel while He hung, suspended in the air,
looking down on humankind as many others looked up towards him
with mockery in their souls?
I wonder if the heaviness of the crown on his head distracted him from the excruciating pain of the nails and beatings he received.
Or the pressing of thorns into his skull - with endless amounts of blood and tears running down his face?
How heavy was the crown when remembering the humiliation cast upon him while receiving punishment when he committed no wrong?
I wonder, how heavy was the comparison of the crown to carrying the cross?
I believe if we were to ask Jesus this very question, he would answer with a joyful and loving smile, saying:
“It wasn’t heavy at all.”
