Te Reo Māori is the study of the oral traditions of Māori, the reo and tikanga that goes alongside it. In Te Reo Māori the emphasis is on developing writing skills using the models of descriptive writing, mihi, review, notices, directions, dialogue and narrative writing. Emphasis is also on developing oral skills and communication between learners. History, traditions and customs are explored within the context of each unit covered. Tikanga is covered within each unit of learning.

Entry Recommendations: 12 Credits at Level 2 Te Reo Māori is required; however, special consideration will be given to those students who can demonstrate sufficient competency in Te Reo Māori.
