LEVEL 3 AUTOMOTIVE AND ENGINEERING – L3AUT

Qualification: NCEA Level 3
This course follows on from Level 2 and is aimed at preparing students for a career in this field. Health and safety will be emphasized again and students will focus on more detailed skills in both Engineering and Automotive. The practical aspect will involve building your own small vehicle. Students will look at how various parts of the vehicle work, including the brakes and engine. The Engineering side will use measuring, welding and lath skills. The final project will involve a project linked to repairing or rebuilding a car.
Course Components:
This course will be a more advanced insight into Automotive skills, this will include performing repair work on vehicles and having an understanding of different parts of a car. The Engineering aspect of the course will focus on using different measuring skills and performing basic welding skills. Students will be working practically and engage in project work which could include repairing engines or building small vehicles.

Entry Recommendations: A desire to have a career in ethier Automotive or Engineering, a keenness for cars and creating things. Level 2 Automotive would help.
