LEVEL 2 PRODUCT DESIGN – L2PDN

In this course learners will learn to apply a design process from project proposal through to prototyping and testing and will develop relevant technical skills across Digital Technologies and fabrication as they work through this process.
Learners will design their own projects and then work on them throughout the year to produce an outcome and evidence for assessment.
Course Components:
The course is made up of two key components:
Design process and Project Management including: Developing a Brief for a project, Planning and managing the resources for a project, conceptual and prototyping, testing and evaluating solutions, and delivering a final outcome.
Technical skills may include: Graphic design, Web design, Electronics, E-Textiles, 3D modeling and animation, Video, Audio. Learners can combine skills as needed and will have access to CNC fabrication tools such as 3D printers, laser cutters, and vinyl cutters.
Assessment:
Assessment opportunities are driven by the student and their project requirements and will usually include standards that assess a combination of design process and technical skill.
