In Level 1 Health Education, learners will be given the opportunity to explore Hauora/well-being in-depth, looking at the interconnections between the physical, mental, emotional, social, and spiritual dimensions of people’s lives. This involves unpacking different wellbeing models and how our experiences impact our hauora. Learners will develop their critical thinking skills and the ability to make health enhancing decisions in unsafe and unhealthy situations. Learners will develop their understanding of kaitiakitanga and whakawhanaungatanga and the role they play in the well-being and sense of self worth of individuals, whānau and communities. This course sets up our learners with a foundational understanding of our underlying concepts; health promotion, attitudes and values, hauora and the socio-ecological perspective.
