*New Grading Feedback Template - In order to make the student feedback more structured and easy to follow, the format of the grading feedback template that the facilitators use to provide student feedback has been updated. A sample of the new grading feedback template can be checked here. Please refer to this video to understand the new grading feedback template and how it is to be used to provide feedback on VU Collaborate.
*Applicable to all VU units
Please ensure that you have graded high similarity submissions (>10-15% Turnit in score) as per UC's guidance and deducted marks wherever required.
For students who have exceeded the word limit (by 10% of the set length from the assessment task), deduct 10% of the total available marks for the assessment (i.e. 10 points) from the final score box on Collaborate. Also, append the following statement below your signature -
- Since your submission has missed the + 10% of the permissible word count limit, 10 marks have been deducted from your overall score as per VU policy.
Wherever late (without an approved extension from the UC), deduct marks accordingly in the score box [5 marks penalty for each day late]. For instance, if a student receives 76 on the grading rubric but has submitted 1 day late, deduct 5 marks and insert 71 in the score box on Collaborate. Also, add the standard late remark below your signature -
- Since you have submitted your assessment 'X' days late, 5*X marks have been deducted as per VU policy.
Please note: The maximum leeway for late submission will be 60 mins. Any submission later will be applicable for a late penalty (unless student has approved extension/special consideration)
[For units with multiple facilitators] Double mark all the student submissions that are mentioned against your name on the shared excel sheet and add your score in Column J.
- For the submissions which you double-mark in other groups, please add a note at the end of the feedback for that student on Collaborate - 'Your Initials: Double Marked'.
Please note - Only N cases will require double marking. We have made the necessary updates to the grading tracker, and HD cases will no longer be double-marked moving forward.
For all N cases being double-marked:
If the double mark confirms an N grade, the average of the two marks will constitute the final grade (e.g., one mark is 42 and one mark is 46, the final mark will be 44).
If a double mark significantly disagrees with the original mark (e.g., crosses a grading band such as original mark is N (47) and double mark is Pass (50)), the two facilitators should have a discussion to reach a consensus on the mark.
The UC is involved if they are the double marking cases in a small unit (1 facilitator) or if the two facilitators cannot reach a consensus, with the UC's decision constituting the final grade in both scenarios.
After pasting the feedback text on to Collaborate, please ensure that there are no formatting inconsistencies (Eg. - additional spacing between the lines, bullets, etc.).
In the feedback text, ensure that the correct student name is added in the Dear 'XYZ' part, along with your own name in the signature section.
In the final score box on Collaborate, remove the decimal from the scores and change them to the nearest integer. For eg. 64.1/2/3/4 becomes 64 and 64.5/6/7/8/9 becomes 65.
Please make sure that you have entered the correct marks for all the submissions on the shared excel sheet.
