Media Arts & Photography

Media Arts

In the Media Arts students create a variety of artworks that integrate typography, digital illustration, photography and image editing, HTML & CSS, video editing, and animation. Students learn about the elements and principles of design, layout concepts for both print and digital media, and colour theory. Students gain experience in a variety of software programs in the Adobe Creative Suite. Media Arts offers courses in grade 9 through grade 12.

Photography

Photography is offered in both grade 11 and 12. The grade 11 course focuses on the basic operations of the DSLR camera and concepts related to the composition of photographs. Grade 12 offers students an opportunity to experiment with analogue proccesses and to consider photography's role in society both in the historic and current context. Projects in both grades incorporate the technical side of photography and also encourage students to experiment with a broad range of creative subject matter. Students learn how to edit their work in Adobe Photoshop and how to use their original photographs in a variety of Photoshop image manipulations.
