BBE Attendance Reminders
Regular school attendance is essential. Absences from class may result in serious disruption of a student’s education. The student and parent should avoid unnecessary absences.
A parent must provide an explanation for any absence upon the student’s arrival or return to school. The student must submit a note signed by the parent or complete Burden's Online Attendance Form. The campus will document in its attendance records whether the absence is excused or unexcused.
Valentine Parties and Dancing Through the Decades
Thursday, February 15 will be a fun and action packed day at Burden. This is our annual Dancing Through the Decades where students can dress from the decade of their choice and will dance away during Specials. We will have Valentine parties the 45 minutes prior to DTTD beginning. Guests are welcome to attend, but must present a valid ID to enter our campus. All guests are welcome to dress in the decade of their choice as well. Room parents will be in touch with party needs. This is a super fun day that is a tradition in Liberty Hill. Can't wait to see y'all!
Please remember that if you check out a student early, they cannot return for another party. Also, we do not accept deliveries for students on Valentine's Day. Please do not send flowers or balloons.

This year LHISD as an entire district is going to use Remind as our "texting" communication tool. We will still utilize emails and phone calls, but any cell phone to cell phone communication will happen through Remind. This is also the platform that will be used to communicate any Covid 19 related information. This platform will send you a text or a message through the app if you have it downloaded. I

Reminder: No parents will be allowed in the classroom to celebrate birthdays at this time.
What Are We Learning...
Math
Unit 6: Measurement
The student applies mathematical process standards to select appropriate customary and metric units, strategies, and tools to solve problems involving measurement. The student will understand the context of the problem first to then determine what decisions need to be made regarding the type of measurement. The student will identify the properties of area and perimeter of rectangles, including solving for dimensions for sides with an unknown length.
Learning Targets
I will solve problems related to perimeter and area of rectangles where dimensions are whole numbers. 4.5D
I will use models to determine the formulas for the perimeter of a rectangle (including the special form for perimeter of a square). 4.5C
I will use models to determine the formulas for the area of a rectangle. 4.5C
Some questions you can ask your child to support their thinking:
What are real world examples of a perimeter? When would it be useful to calculate the perimeter?
What are real world examples of an area? When would it be useful to calculate the area?
What is perimeter? What does it represent? (The formula is not the answer.)
What is area? What does it represent? (The formula is not the answer.)
How would using a different tool affect your ability to measure _______? (Example: measuring a football field with a rule or a 30’ measuring tape.)
*Please make sure your child is practicing their basic multiplication facts and fact fluency each night for 15 minutes. This is a major skill that 4th graders are expected to have mastered by the end of the year.

How can the reader use main ideas and key details to summarize informational text?
How can comparing across genres help the reader create a deeper understanding of the world?
Unit 3: Response Writing
In this unit, students will practice creating constructed responses in order to respond to a text. They will be using the R.A.C.E. strategy to respond to both short answer and extended answers.
