Tourism and Hospitality Studies (THS)

簡介　Introduction

旅遊與款待科讓學生透過研習本地及國際的旅遊及款待業趨勢和議題，探討和了解個人與社會之間的關係，以及有關趨勢和議題對社會、經濟和環境所造成的影響。例如學習旅遊及款待教育的社會元素，除可以加強學生的個人發展外，還能培養他們的專業操守，孕育健康的服務文化，對社區有所裨益。

Tourism and Hospitality Studies (THS) enables students to explore and understand the relationship between individuals and society through the study of local and international tourism and hospitality trends and issues, and their social, economic and environmental impact. For example, the study of the social aspects of tourism and hospitality education will not only enhance students’ personal development but also help them develop a sense of ethical responsibility and a healthy hospitality culture that benefits the community.

培養一系列在旅遊及款待業內外不同地方都能應用的專門及共通能力，包括有效的溝通能力、顧客服務技巧、資料處理技巧、批判性思考能力、創造力及解決問題的能力等

Develop a range of specific and generic skills, including effective communication skills, customer service skills, information-processing skills, critical thinking skills, creativity, and problem-solving skills.

課程架構與特色 Curriculum Framework and Characteristics

本科的課程架構分為必修和選修部分，均會探討旅遊及款待業內不同界別的情況。每部分包括了各界別所需的知識、概念、態度和基本的共通能力。選修部分旨在配合學生的能力及興趣，加強他們對所選取課題的認識。

The curriculum framework of THS consists of two parts: a Compulsory Part and an Elective Part. The Compulsory and Elective Parts are developed to examine certain sectors of the tourism and hospitality industry, and each part includes knowledge, concepts, attitudes and generic skills. The Elective Part aims to cater for students’ aptitudes and interests, and enhance their understanding of a selected topic chosen by them.

本科除一般課堂的學與教（包括小組學習、專題研習、合作學習及持續性評估）及相關的學習活動外，更會安排同學透過不同類型的參觀活動與境外交流，讓同學可以利用走出課室的機會應用所學，深化與鞏固學科知識。

In addition to regular classroom learning and teaching (including group learning, project-based learning, collaborative learning and continuous assessment) and related learning activities, THS will also arrange for students to participate in various types of visits and overseas exchanges, allowing them to take advantage of opportunities outside the classroom to apply what they have learned and deepen and consolidate their subject knowledge.
