Free drinking Water well Testing program

To help ensure safe drinking water, the Local Government Commission CivicSpark Program, in coordination with the Central Coast Regional Water Quality Control Board and San Luis Obispo County Environmental Health Services, is sponsoring free, voluntary drinking water well sampling for residents in San Luis Obispo County, who get their drinking water from a private groundwater well. This includes free groundwater sampling and laboratory analysis services.

Qualifying Criteria

  • The domestic water well must be located within San Luis Obispo County. The well is considered a “domestic well” if it provides, or will provide water to a:
        • Residence, workshop, or place of business where it may be used for human consumption, cooking, or sanitary purposes.
    • The well requested to be sampled may not have been sampled within the last 12-months.
