Goals and Objectives

  • providing greater opportunities for students to use English for purposeful communication both inside and outside the classroom;

  • adopting learner-centred instructions to promote independence and initiative in learning English;

  • making use of a wide variety of text types to expose students to the practical and authentic use of English;

  • assigning quality homework as language practice in meaningful contexts;

  • facilitating the development of a ‘reading to learn' culture through encouraging students to read a wide range of materials and designing reflective tasks for students to appreciate the value of reading; and

  • promoting the development of strategies, values and attitudes that are conducive to lifelong learning.
