I hope you all had a good weekend. This week we will continue with the create your own musical instrument project. Students will be finishing up their own musical instruments. You can find the easy to follow instructions here. There is also a link below. This is your chance to be creative so go for it. I look forwarding to seeing what you all come with. Due: Friday, June 5th.
This weeks composer of the week is another one of my favorite composers George Gershwin. Gershwin was born on September 28, 1898 in Brooklyn, New York. He was an American composer who composed a lot of different pieces from classical to jazz. I have included below a few of his more famous pieces, some of them are longer so you can listen to parts of them or all of them if you want. Please fill out the google form when you are finished listening. If you want to draw a picture while you listen you may do that as well.
I know you will be actively busy working with your students on the core subjects for school, but along with that I am hoping that you will take some time to help them continue with their music class as well. Music is one of the few subjects in which students are actively using both the left and right sides of their brains at the same time. We have made a lot of progress in music this year and before we left school we were starting to make connections between math and music and fractions. I am already missing being in the classroom with your students. To help give your kids a break from their other studies I will be giving them things to explore in music.
I will be passing on more information to you with ideas to help you keep your student actively exploring music over the next few weeks. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to email me and ask.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Fratacci
