Greetings to all!!! - My name is Ms. Vann and I am so excited to be back at LMES for a super - "round two" with you!! Please note: My first and only other year at Lake Murray was the 2014-15 school year - 12 years ago - teaching 5th grade AGP ELA and SS - and at the end of a wonderful year with wonderful students (who have now finished college) - I moved - with the rest of the LMES 5th grade teacher team - to the newly created (at the time) Chapin Intermediate where I taught 5th grade ELA and SS for the last 11 years! [Another trip in time!] Prior to teaching my first round at LMES, I taught 7th grade ELA at Irmo Middle School where I served as: team leader, secretary of Irmo Middle School’s SIC, sponsor of Irmo Middle’s award winning literary magazine, and teacher and coach for state level speech and broadcasting winners of various competitions sponsored by the State Optimist Club and the SC Broadcasters Association.
I also served on the District Five Language Arts Leadership team, helped write curriculum for the earliest middle school AGP ELA courses, coached a team of in-house dancers (in my earlier days), served as team Beta Club sponsor --and -- twice I was asked by my principal to write farewell songs for retiring District 5 superintendents for the school staff to perform, and I did! -- [You can tell that I loved participating in and with the extras - but I loved (and still do!) the teaching part of the job the most!!!] Yes! Writing and reading are definitely (and always have been) two of my greatest passions – both in and out of the classroom -- and this year, as a Lake Murray 3rd grade teacher, I am truly looking forward to sharing with my wonderful 3rd grade students all that I know and love about growing great readers and writers - and - drumroll - "mathematical" thinkers! [And let's not forget the Social Studies and Science!!!] And there we have it! Welcome - both students and parents - to a wonderful 3rd grade world of learning!!!
Lastly - for my students:
Enroute -
Great readings and writings and cool math for you! -
and a “lotta bit o’” science - and social studies, too!
So with effort and interest, your knowledge will grow -
to the point that your clever third “great”ness will show -
that doing our best is the choice of each day -
because loving to learn is the Lake Murray way!!!
