Color Wheel with Found objects
For an artist, the color wheel is an important tool because it shows the relationship between colors. Think of it as a family tree for colors, how they are related, mixed, and put together to form color schemes.
Create a color wheel using found objects from around the house. Toys, clothes, shoes, food, and anything else could be used to create your color wheel.

Paper Clay
Salt Dough
2 Cups All Purpose Flour
1 Cup Salt
1 Cup Cold Water
Mix flour and salt together in a bowl. Slowly mix water, a few tablespoons at a time, into flour mixture until dough is smooth and easy to handle. Knead dough for 10 minutes and let rest for 20 minutes.
Preheat oven to 250˚
Form dough into desired shapes and arrange on a baking sheet.
Bake in the preheated oven until dry and hard, about 2 hours. Allow to cool completely.
Baking Soda Clay
2 cups of baking soda
1 cup of cornstarch
1 1/4 cups of water
Place all ingredients into a pot over medium heat. Stir the mixture almost constantly, until it thickens and becomes the consistency of whipped mashed potatoes. Let cool and then knead until smooth and no longer sticky. Done! Now create! Let air dry when finished
When not in use, excess dough should be wrapped in a damp towel to keep it from drying out before you want it to.
Thicker pieces tend to crack more during the drying process, so try to keep your creations on the thinner side if possible.
Try making textures by pressing dry pasta or plants into the dough.
Downloadable Coloring Sheets
