Digital Citizenship? What's that?

If you're on the Internet (and you are right now!), then you are a digital citizen! Just like being a citizen of the community you live in, there are good and bad things about hanging around. So, just like you'd protect your actual self from harm, you need to protect your online self from digital harm. I chose a variety of sites and experiences to help teach folks of all ages about keeping themselves and others safe online. Please check out this Symbaloo "webmix" featuring four common subcategories for young students: general internet safety, downloading stuff and ad awareness, cyberbullying, and netiquette. There are teacher and parent resources in there as well. Enjoy!

Read Across America Week was super-fun! We had so many guest readers, including Josh Berry from WOLO ABC-Columbia and Valerie Byrd-Fort from Cocky's Reading Express! We had fun dress-up days every day and Mrs. Rowe's class honored Floyd Peterson from Quit Calling Me a Monster, the SC Picture Book Award winner for this year!

Miriam Hardy-Koverman, School Librarian

"Mrs. HardKover"

I'm a certified teacher as well as a certified school librarian, all rolled into one book-loving teacher.

I earned my Master of Library Science from University of South Carolina, and my Bachelor of Science in Journalism from University of Florida. So, I root for the Gators AND the Gamecocks, except when they play each other.

I have taught English, yearbook and film appreciation to high schoolers, subbed a whole bunch of crazy subjects for middle and high schoolers, and was the media assistant at an elementary school. I have four boys in four different schools, from middle school to high school to college. I love teaching so much that I'll teach any level and any age!

Most importantly, I'm here to help YOU, my friend! If you don't find what you need on this site, please feel free to email me at mhardy-koverman@lexrich5.org. I will get back to you on the next school day.
