Welcome to the Academy for Success (AFS)! My name is Dr. Gallman and I am a Career and Technology teacher (CTE) at AFS. It is with great pleasure that I embrace the opportunity to work with you and your family this school year. Get ready to thrive and grow and to develop career and college skills to move you to college or a career. All you need is a positive attitude and mind-set and a willingness to work hard. I teach Fundamentals of Computing courses and Personal Finance. Both courses fulfills the requirement for high school graduation. Why Computer Science ?
Computer science is more than programming it is about solving real-world problems. This course is designed to focus on conceptual ideas of computing and to understand certain tools and languages might be utilized to solve particular problems. The goal of Fundamentals of Computing is to develop students computational practices of algorithm development, problem solving, and programming within the context of real life problems. Students are introduced to interface, design, and limits of computers, and societal and ethical issues. Why not computer science?
