AMERICAN SIGN LANGUAGE

Meeting Times:  Wednesdays at 8:00 in the Upper Commons.

Description:   To assist students in learning ASL and to raise awareness of the deaf community. 

BE A FAN CLUB

LHS Sponsors:  Kim Watson (kwatson@lexington1.net) and Dana Crowley (dcrowley@lexington1.net)

Meeting Times:   2nd Wednesday of each month at 8:00 a.m. in The Little Theatre. 

Description:   The mission of this club is to provide opportunities to bring youth with and without intellectual disabilities together through education, recreational, and leisure activities to support social inclusion and create a school community of acceptance and respect. This club is open to all students interested in supporting and advocating for individuals with intellectual disabilities. There is a $10 fee to cover the cost of a t-shirt.  Special Olympic events such as athletic tournaments, spirit rallies, Polar Plunge, End the R-Word rally, and other after school social events.

CHORDS FOR A CAUSE

Meeting Times:   Thursdays at 7:45 in room C112

Description:   Nurture, lift and enhance the health and vitality of physically and mentally compromised community through music. We welcome chorus, orchestra and band members to volunteer their time and talents. 

 Confidence, Encouragement and Kindness

Meeting Times:  Mondays and Wednesdays at 8:00 in F111

Description:  The goal of the CEK Club is to promote the encouragement and partaking of kind acts, confidence building, and overall positivity throughout Lexington High School to as many students as possible. Additionally, our club hopes to find ways to help others in our community and take action through our ideas. 

FLOW FOR ALL

Meeting Times:  1st Thursday of every month at 8:00 in room D110.

Description:  To help raise awareness and products for the issue of period poverty and to donate products to local homeless and women's shelters. 

KEY CLUB

Club sponsor: Oscar Caicedo (ocaicedo@lexington1.net)

Meetings:  1st Tuesday of each month at 3:50 in the Little Theatre.

Description: The mission is to volunteer and carry out service projects. Empowering students of all backgrounds to serve their community while exploring their passions. 

LEO CLUB

Club sponsor: Dr. Sandra Moore

Meetings:  First Tuesday of each month at 8:00 in Dr. Moore's room.

Description: To use service and volunteer work to strengthen communities and support this in need. 

LIBRARY ADVISORY 

LHS Sponsor: Deborah Oswald

Meeting Time:  TBD in the Library

Description:   Works regularly and consistently with the school library professional staff: to develop plans for the school library program, to enhance student learning through the integration of information literacy—the ability to identify, locate, and effectively use information on the issue or problem at hand—and technology into the regular curriculum, to integrate the library information resources and services into the school’s total instructional program, to assess programming needs and requests (e.g., budget, staffing, schedule, collection development), to evaluate the quality and effectiveness of the school library program in improving student achievement, and to advocate for the school library program. 

LOCC-LEXINGTON ONE COMMUNITY ACTION

LHS Sponsor:  Shelley Anderson (manderson@lexington1.net)

Meeting Time:  1st & 3rd Thursday of each month at 8:00 in room E113.

Description:   The mission of this club is to empower each young person, family and member of our community to prevent underage use of and access to alcohol, tobacco and other drugs through collaboration and education. The club sponsors events such as Red Ribbon Week, Great American Smoke-Out, and sober events.

MENTORMATE

Club sponsor: Jessica Burke

Meetings:  First Wednesday of every month at 8:00. 

Description: Dedicated to guiding 9th and 10th graders through the challenges of high school. Our mission is to provide practical advice, academic support, and social guidance to help underclassmen navigate their high school journey with confidence through peer mentoring, workshops, and discussions, we aim to build a supportive community that fosters success and personal growth. 

MINORITY STUDENT UNION

Club sponsor: Jade Cox

Meetings:  First or second Wednesday of every month at 8:00 in room B-107.

Description: The goal of the Minority Student Union is to create a safe place for minority students of LHS and their allies. We want to provide a sense of community within our school and come together to support one another. We will make sure all students, no matter who they are, are comfortable within our school.

RELAY FOR LIFE

Sponsor: Sherron Harmon and Debbie Oswald

Meeting Time: Thursday of each month @8am in the Library

Description: The Wildcat Relay For Life movement is dedicated to helping communities attack cancer. Through funds donated, time given, or awareness raised, our school is teaming up - virtually or in person - to make a difference. 

STUDENT COUNCIL

LHS Sponsor: Mr. Shipes/Ms. Cantwell

Meeting Times:  Every other Tuesday at 8am in the Little Theatre

Description:  The mission of this club is to better Lexington’s spirit, community and atmosphere and school in general.   The council will participate in community projects and spirit events. Student council members are voted in by their classmates.

UNITED SOUND

Sponsor: Mr. McMurphy

Meeting Time: Tuesdays and Thursday during 4th block and then after school in November in room C110

Description: To remove barriers to music as well as foster social change through music. 

INTERACT CLUB

Sponsor: Amy Fernandez and Kymmie Cartledge

Meeting Time: Our club will meet on select Mondays at 8 am in B211.

Description: INTERACT is a program in which people ages 12-18 come together in clubs to develop leadership skills while discovering the power of service and international understanding; each Interact club is sponsored by at least one Rotary club.
