BIG IDEAS is a new textbook series adopted this year by our district. Throughout this year, we will cover 5th and 6th grade standards to prepare them for pre-algebra in 6th grade. We will integrate the skills from 5th grade into the chapters in their textbook. Often we will use teacher created materials to ensure they become strong mathematicians. Communication with me about any frustration they feel will be very important this year as we navigate filling in any missed skills from the covid shutdown in the spring.
