Gymnastics
February
Week 1: Travels, Rolls, Cartwheels, and Balances
Students learned the fundamentals of the safety roll, forward roll, backwards roll, cartwheel and round-off. Students were also given time to explore a variety of travels and balances during Dicey Doo warm-up.
Week 2: Gymnastics Stations
Students participated in 9 gymnastics stations focusing on a variety of gymnastics events and balances.

Station 4: Wall Walks
Station 5: Slack Line
Station 6: Balance Beam

Jump Rope
January
Long rope
Student learned how to work cooperatively with a group in order to turn a long rope. Students also practiced jumping into the rope while it is turning.
Whirlwind Challenge
Students competed against their peers during a tournament style competition that focused on jumping into the rope while it is turning. Students must jump in one right after the other and avoid the rope turning without anyone inside.
Endurance Challenge
Students took the endurance challenge too see if they could jump for 1 minute, 2 minutes, or 3 minutes without stopping or making a mistake.
Stations
Students participated in four station activities: Bucket Bounce, Domino Ball, Scooter Balloon Volleyball and Dice Bonk.
Students practiced working cooperatively with a group and score keeping with the easy score keeper cards.
Nutrition
Students learned the importance of a healthy diet by eating foods from the 5 food groups: Protein, Grain, Dairy, Vegetables and Fruits. Students participated in a variety of activities to match different foods to the MyPlate diagram.

Bowling and Rolling
December
Students learned the proper cues of rolling during activities such as Protect the Pin and Aerobic Bowling. Before our holiday break, students ended the unit with our annual culminating Midnight Bowling.

Fitnessgram Testing
September 3-September 9
The Fitnessgram PACER test measures our cardiovascular endurance, or our heart and lungs and how long we can run for.
September 13-18
Students measured their muscular strength and endurance to see how many curl-ups and push-ups they could do.
September 19-24
Students worked independently at a variety of stations, including jump rope, yoga ball launcher, balloon pong, and scooters.
Students also measured their flexibility during the Sit and Reach test, and their body composition with height and weight.
Teamwork and Cooperation
Students will learn how to work together in groups. REMEMBER!!! There's no "I" in TEAM.
August 29-September 3
This week we are continuing to work on Teamwork and Cooperation. Students played a game called "2 Heads are Better Than 1". Pairs worked together to catch a ball in a bucket, then put it between their heads and carry it to their teams trashcan to score a point. Students were able to choose between 3 jobs: thrower, catcher, and blocker.
August 23-28
This week, students work with a small group during the game Cross the River. Students made a plan about how they were going to get across the "toxic river" using poly spots as "rocks". Did you help your team, or hurt your team?
Welcome to BLES Physical Education!
August 19-22
Welcome to the Gym! This year, students will have PE every 4 days. Students need to WEAR SNEAKERS to participate! Students that forget to wear the correct shoes will be sent home an orange "One the Bench" form to get a guardian signature and return to school.
