We’re glad you are considering returning to continue your education with us, or considering to join us for your Sixth Form experience. This website is designed to cover some of the most important elements to help you get the most out of your sixth form study.
Sixth Form is an exciting step forward. You are taking that first step towards college, university or the world of work. It is very important to get the balance right: you study fewer subjects in the Sixth Form and it can seem that you have a lot more time on your hands. However, it is important that you develop your personal time management skills and make sure you are making the most of the time you have.
Your tutors and Heads of Year are there to support you. They will be able to advise you on your subject choices as well as checking that you are making satisfactory progress once you embark on your subjects.
It is very important that you make sure we have up-to-date phone numbers and contact details for you. The Sixth Form has a Twitter account (@lewis_girls) and Facebook page (Lewis Girls’ Sixth Form) and these will be used to keep you informed about day-to-day matters; so make sure you can access these. You will be given a Gmail account – it is important that you check this regularly as it’s often the easiest way of getting messages to you.
The Sixth Form is an opportunity to develop academically as well as exploring the wide range of extra-curricular and voluntary opportunities. It is a good idea to try and get involved in as much as your timetable will allow. These opportunities are valuable in terms of personal development as well as contributing to various aspects of your courses and giving you lots to write about when it comes to personal statements for university entry or job applications.
