Since 2016, your school has been working towards achieving the Active School Flag to promote a physically educated and active school community.
Goal: To achieve a physically educated and physically active school community.
Core Principle: The school ensures that physical literacy forms the core of all Physical Education (PE) lessons, with a strong focus on fundamental movement skills.
Benefits of Activity: Being active provides numerous benefits, including:
Improved health.
Increased self-esteem.
Greater concentration levels.
Development of teamwork skills.
Student Leadership: The Sports Council represents the school in all sporting matters and actively spreads the Active School message.
Facilities: The school utilises its outdoor classroom and Active School Walkway to support physical activity.
Long-Term Commitment: It is not a one-off project but a continuous process that involves the whole school community (students, teachers, and parents).
Aims: The primary goal is to increase awareness of environmental issues through classroom study and translate that knowledge into positive environmental action within the school and the wider community.
Beyond Environment: It fosters a strong sense of citizenship, leadership, and teamwork among participants. It also democratizes school management by involving students in decision-making and making them responsible for their actions.
Thematic Focus: The programme is organized around 9 key themes that schools work through sequentially to earn a flag:
Litter and Waste
Energy
Water
Travel
Biodiversity
Global Citizenship (Litter & Waste, Energy, Marine Environment, Travel)
Award: Schools that successfully complete all elements of the programme are awarded the internationally recognized Green-Flag, an Eco-Label that must be renewed every two years.
