Manor Park Primary Academy

Weekly Notices and Reminders

 Friday 29th September 2023

Learning, Excellence and Opportunity

Manor Park Primary Academy School has a duty to safeguard and promote the welfare of children. This responsibility necessitates a child protection policy and procedures which are available to view on the website, or a copy can be requested from the School Office. Our designated Child Protection Officers are Ms. Thomas and Ms. Laing. Information may need to be shared with other agencies when there are concerns about a child’s welfare. Manor Park Primary Academy is committed to gender, racial, religion and disability equality in every part of school life.

School Notices and Reminders

We will be including some general reminders in our Weekly Notices sheet in the coming weeks for the benefit of our new parents/carers and which we hope you will find useful. The Weekly Notices and Reminder Sheet is sent out every Friday and includes dates of forthcoming events, school visits and workshops and important messages and reminders  about school life.

Starting School In 2024

Was your child born between 1st September 2019 AND 31st August 2020?

If so, they will be due to start Primary School in September 2024.

For more information or to apply online go to www.sutton.gov.uk/admissions

The closing date for applications is 15th January 2024.

Parking Safely Around School Entrances

Can we please remind you of the importance of parking safely around the school entrances. Parking is strictly prohibited outside the school gates and our children's safety is compromised by anyone who stops on the zigzag lines or on the corner of Warwick and Greyhound Road. We also ask you to be considerate to our neighbours in surrounding roads and not to park across driveways, private bays, pavements, etc. at drop off and pick up times. They too could be parents who need to collect children from school  and would be unable to get their car off the drive. Thank you for your co-operation.

Contact with your Child's Class Teacher

Please do not use Google Classroom on your child's chrome book to contact the class teacher. We would ask that if you have a question or concern  about your child, to please speak to their teacher at home-time in the playground. If a longer meeting is required, please arrange a telephone appointment with the class teacher via the school office, indicating the reason for your request so that the teacher is prepared and able to deal with your concerns.

School Uniform Sale

We are holding our first uniform sale of this academic year on Monday 9th October 2023 at 3.00pm-3.45pm in the playground (weather permitting). Please can we politely ask that you bring coins for any payments as it is not always possible for us to provide the correct change. Cash payments only.

Our last sale raised just over £40 for school funds which is  great and parents and carers were very glad to be able to buy these items at a very low cost. Thank you for your support.

Could we please remind parents that, if your child takes home another child's fleece or jumper, you please return this back to the school as soon as possible.

 Reminder For Parents

If your child injures themselves outside of school i.e in a sporting activity or even whilst playing and they required hospital treatment  or a GP visit to check the injury, please come into the school office on their return to school so that we can assess if we need to put measures into place to help them whilst in school.

If the injury happens at school, and we are aware of it, and would naturally follow up a child's well-being and the outcome of any doctor or hospital check. However, if it happens outside of school hours we would not necessarily know which is why it is very important to come into the office to pass on such information. Thank you.

Uniform for Clubs - Reminder

All children should be wearing their PE kits for both morning and after school clubs. For football, they are able to wear shin pads and football socks if needed. If children come home in their kit, please can it be sent back into school, so that they have it for their PE lessons and yoga that week.

Your School Photograph Is Ready

Vancols Photographers are pleased to confirm that the School Photographs are ready to view using the QR code on your proof card. If you have already scanned the QR code on the proof card and registered, you will receive an auto email notification.

If you have not done this yet, you can still view by scanning the QR code on your proof card and following the instructions. The online cut-off date for orders to be placed, for Years 1-6, for free postage back to the school is 4th October 2023.

If by chance you have not received your proof card or it has been lost you can call Vancols Parent Line on 01206 273711.

Nursery, Reception and remaining Sibling photographs are scheduled for Friday 20th October.

Free School Meals From Reception to Year 6

From September 2023, all children from reception to year 6 are entitled to a free school meal. This is a scheme that has been put into place by the Mayor of London and, at this point, it is only planned to last one year (current academic year of 2023/2024). Therefore could we please kindly remind our parents that no top up is needed for your child's Arbor meals account for the remainder of this academic school year. Many thanks for your understanding.

This Week At Manor Park

Skipping Festival

On Wednesday, 27th September 2023 some of our Year 3 and year 4 children had the opportunity to participate in a Skipping Festival held at Rushy Meadows Primary School alongside other schools from the borough. The children had the opportunity to try out 3 different types of skipping whilst improving their fitness, developing new skills, and having the chance to be creative with the rope! Its was a day full of fun, activities and jumping.

Parents Coffee Morning

We would like to invite Parents and Carers to a Coffee Morning on Friday, 6th October 2023 at 9:30am - 10:30am. This will be held in the Upper Hall; entry will be via the school office.

Unlike Parents Evenings where parents/carers meet with teaching staff on a one to one basis to discuss their child’s progress, our Coffee Morning will provide an informal setting where parents and members of our Senior Management Team can talk about school life, including the curriculum, after school clubs, the school and its grounds. The focus for this coffee morning will be Reading, including in class sessions and how you can support your child at home.

This is an opportunity for positive discussion on key areas as we plan for the future, and we look forward to hearing your thoughts and ideas. Please book a separate meeting with the relevant staff member if you wish to share a concern or discuss a matter personal to your child.

If you would like to attend, please complete this form by Monday, 2nd October 2023.  Please also mention any particular areas of school life you would like to discuss.  We politely request that only one parent/carer from each household attends.

There will be a further Coffee Afternoon and Evening scheduled for later in the year, so please do not worry if you are unable to attend at this time.
