It's a great opportunity to learn more about how we support our youngest learners as they settle into school life.
We politely request that parents and carers attending do not bring children.
Headlice
A few cases of head lice have been reported throughout the school recently. Head lice are a common issue, but it's important that we all work together to stop them from spreading. Please check your child's hair everyday.
Check : You must check your child’s hair. Do it everyday if possible or at least once a week.
Use a proper comb: A detection comb is the only way to effectively find and trap head lice.
Take action: If you find live lice, start treatment immediately. Your local pharmacist can provide advice and recommend the right products.
Check everyone: If one person in the family has lice, it's essential to check everyone else's hair, too.
Regular checks and immediate action are the most effective ways to control outbreaks and prevent further spread. By following these steps, we can ensure our school remains a comfortable learning environment for all students

This autumn term, your child’s annual flu vaccination is on 8th October.

This Week in Year 1!
In Science, Year 1 pupils focused on learning about their body parts, successfully labelling one another to reinforce their knowledge. Building on this, pupils effectively used their understanding of body parts to compare their similarities and differences in a classroom activity.
For Art, the pupils undertook a colour challenge, drawing inspiration from the renowned artist Kandinsky. Utilising their knowledge of primary and secondary colours, the Year 1 pupils painted a range of different patterns.
To celebrate European Languages Day, pupils actively explored a variety of cultures and learned different greetings from around the continent. The pupils creatively applied their new knowledge by designing and producing a welcome poster for the school to share their learning.
This Week in Year 2!
Year 2 pupils engaged in a creative writing session this week, reading 'I Want My Hat Back', before designing 'wanted' posters and special party hats.
A practical science experiment illustrated the importance of hygiene, with pupils observing the spread of 'glitter germs' during a shared activity.
A historical debate on the most important activist culminated in a decision for Greta Thunberg, showcasing pupils' excellent critical thinking skills regarding environmental importance.
Pupils successfully participated in the celebration of European Day of Languages, learning about the significance of the day and completing a cultural colouring activity.
Earlier this week, pupils spent an engaging afternoon at Forest School, investigating the process of seed dispersion and crafting necklaces from conkers. The class demonstrated superb teamwork during an outdoor session, using tools to clear the allotment beds and prepare them for upcoming autumn planting.
This Week in Year 3!
Pupils in Year 3 completed a creative English task, designing "WANTED" posters for an escaped sabre-toothed cat from an Ice Age Zoo. The activity effectively integrated the use of adjectives for description and understanding of the correct use of the articles 'a' and 'an' with expanded noun phrases.
In Mathematics, pupils continued their Mastering Number journey, focusing on subtraction concepts. They practiced a stem sentence approach to understand that the position of the equals sign could be switched, maintaining the equality of the equation (e.g., 7−4=3 and 3=7−4). The pupils successfully distinguished that, unlike addition, subtraction is not commutative.
In Art, they explored warm and cool colours and recreated renowned paintings, including Starry Night and Water Lilies, utilizing watercolours to achieve a translucent finish.
This Week in Year 4!
Year 4 pupils successfully focused their efforts on handwriting practice, specifically concentrating on forming the letters 'w' and 'e'. The pupils demonstrated admirable concentration and applied significant effort throughout their handwriting session.
Year 4 artists engaged in an exciting session of artistic exploration. The session included practical experimentation with the concepts of warm and cool colours.
Pupils produced bold and expressive paintings as they applied their understanding of colour theory. The class exhibited fantastic use of colour to vibrantly bring their artwork to life.
This Week in Year 5!
Pupils in Year 5 successfully engaged with the pneumatics topic, utilising syringes, balloons, and rocket launchers to explore the principles of compressed air movement. The use of practical equipment, such as syringes and rocket launchers, significantly aided the pupils' understanding of complex DT and science concepts.
In Art, creative expression flourished as pupils developed their imaginative skills by sketching fantasy landscapes using only colouring pencils.
During PE, the pupils enthusiastically participated in a Real PE session, focusing on their personal cog and applying themselves across various gymnastic equipment.
Throughout the week, Year 5 fully immersed themselves in the Shang Dynasty time period through the interactive audio experience of Now Press Play.
Across all subjects, pupils demonstrated a keen commitment to challenging themselves and developing their creative, physical, and historical understanding.
This Week in Year 6!
Year 6 explored tints, tones, and shades to understand how famous artists create depth and mood in landscape paintings. Pupils observed various landscape paintings and analysed the use of artistic techniques to make scenes more vibrant and lifelike. The class produced some fantastic examples of Creative Home Learning, showcasing their imagination and effort.
The cohort engaged in a fascinating science lesson involving the dissection of lambs' hearts to investigate the organ's functions. The pupils were highly engaged during the science activity and posed several brilliant questions about the heart's anatomy.
Finally Year 6 pupils participated in a spirited Intraclass tournament where they successfully employed their throwing skills.
This Week in Sports!
A number of Year 4 and Year 5 pupils participated in the SSPSutton Target Festival earlier this week. The event offered a fantastic opportunity for the pupils to develop their throwing and kicking skills.
The festival incorporated five challenging circuit stations designed to test their accuracy and coordination. Pupils demonstrated excellent effort and focus throughout the various activities.
Significant skill development and great learning were observed across all participating pupils.
The event was a thoroughly positive and enriching experience for all pupils involved.
