Manor Park Primary Academy
Weekly Notices and Reminders
Friday 15th September 2023
Learning, Excellence and Opportunity
Manor Park Primary Academy School has a duty to safeguard and promote the welfare of children. This responsibility necessitates a child protection policy and procedures which are available to view on the website, or a copy can be requested from the School Office. Our designated Child Protection Officers are Ms. Thomas and Ms. Laing. Information may need to be shared with other agencies when there are concerns about a child’s welfare. Manor Park Primary Academy is committed to gender, racial, religion and disability equality in every part of school life.
School Notices and Reminders
This is our first Weekly Notices and Reminder Sheet of the new academic year and we would to offer a warm Manor Park welcome to all our new teaching and support staff as well as our new families starting in Foundation Stage and throughout the school. We hope you all had wonderful Summer break.
We will be including some general reminders in our Weekly Notices sheet in the coming weeks for the benefit of our new parents/carers and which we hope you will find useful. The Weekly Notices and Reminder Sheet is sent out every Friday and includes dates of forthcoming events, school visits and workshops and important messages and reminders about school life.
Social Media Guidelines
Facebook, WhatsApp, Twitter etc. should not be used for any school related comments and the complaints and concerns procedures should be followed. If you wish to share, confidentially, parents who are using sites inappropriately, please let us know and we a will be happy to speak to them. All contact between staff and parents should be conducted with politeness whether this is in meetings or on social media. The following guidelines should be followed:
Parents should use social networking sites or messaging groups sites only as a forum to support one another and uphold the strong reputation of the school.
Parents should not post pictures of pupils, other than their own children, on social networking sites.
Parents should not post inappropriate comments about the school and its staff, parents or individual children on social networking sites or messaging groups.
Parents should share complaints or concerns through official school channels rather than posting them on social networking sites or messaging groups.
Many thanks for your continued support.
Contact with your Child's Class Teacher
Due to the large number of emails coming into the office, we would ask that if you have a question or concern about your child, please talk to their teacher at home-time in the playground. If a longer meeting is required, please arrange a telephone appointment with the class teacher via the school office, indicating the reason for your request so that the teacher is prepared and able to deal with your concerns.
Health and Safety Notice-No Nuts in School
Some of our children have serious nut allergies which can be life threatening. Please try to make sure that your child does not bring nuts into school. No peanut butter or Nutella sandwiches, snack bars or biscuits containing nuts and no small boxes of nuts and raisins please.
Safety in the School Playground
May we please remind you of the following safety rules which must be followed within the school grounds before and after school:
No scooters or cycles to be ridden around the playgrounds.
No using any of the apparatus in the playgrounds including Foundation Unit.
Children should remain with their parents and carers at all times until they come into the buildings in the morning or whilst they wait for siblings after school.
Thank you for your co-operation.
Parking Safely Around School Entrances
Please can we politely remind you of the importance of parking safely around the school entrances. Parking is strictly prohibited outside the school gates and our children's safety is compromised by anyone who stops on the zigzag lines or on the corner of Warwick and Greyhound Road. We also ask you to be considerate of our neighbours in surrounding roads and therefore not to park across driveways at drop off and pick up times. They, too, could be parents who need to collect children from school and would be unable to get their car off the drive. Thank you for your co-operation.
Absence through Illness
If your child is unwell and will not be coming to school, please inform the office by 10.00am via the School Website Reporting Absence Link. If you are unsure whether your child needs to be at home, for example after the initial symptoms of illness have eased, bring them to the school office and we will be happy to monitor them and call you if necessary. We often find that being in school and seeing their friends takes their mind off feeling a little under the weather.
Appointment through the School Day
Please try to make dental and G.P appointments after school wherever possible to minimise gaps in your child's learning. We require a copy of letters for hospital appointments, visits to embassies or passport offices, and high school entrance exams to enable us to authorise these appointments . We can photocopy the original documents, if necessary.
Equipment Reminder
May we please remind you that children should bring all their equipment into school with them in the morning. PE kits should be in school permanently until they are taken home at half term for washing. Charged Chromebooks should be brought in every day for learning. Pencil cases and other stationery are not required as these are provided by the school. Swimming kits must be brought in on the allocated swim day and a child should always bring their lunch box and water bottle into school as it helps them to remember if they having a packed lunch or a school dinner on that day. As Autumn, and subsequently Winter, approaches the children should always have a coat with them.
Thank you for your co-operation. This will ensure that all children are well prepared for their day and limits the disruption to learning when things come in late and have to be taken to the class
Monday 18th September-School Photographs Reminder
Please ensure that your child or children is wearing their jumper or cardigan with the school logo.
Long hair should be tied back and you may send in a comb or brush for them to tidy their hair if they want to.
Sibling group photographs have all been booked, and we are unable to take any more requests.
