Now that we have returned to full school opening, we will resume our fortnightly newsletters full of Learning, Excellence and Opportunity (as well as other news).

LEARNING

This week saw the reopening of primary schools across the country and we are pleased to report that all of the children who have returned to school this week after another lengthy period of home learning have settled back into school life well and are enjoying being back in school. Not only the children; all staff are equally delighted to be back in school and there has been a real buzz around the school this week. It has been so nice to see classrooms back in use and children making up for lost time with their friends. As well as continuing to keep the core subjects "ticking over", we have placed a big emphasis this week on allowing the children to spend time with their classmates doing lots of fun activities together.

CPF Staff would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the parents (and other carers) who have kept children learning during this enforced period of school closure - we really have noticed the progression that our pupils have made since Christmas and they have returned to school in a really good place to be able to continue their learning journeys. We are all keeping our fingers (and everything else) crossed that school closures are now a thing of the past and all CPF pupils can continue to go from strength to strength across the remainder of this academic year.

EXCELLENCE

Now that children are back in school, we will resume Celebration Assemblies and handing out these certificates from next week. This week we would like to celebrate how amazing all of the children have been returning to school and wish to award EVERY child certificate for this....

OPPORTUNITY

Cheam Park Farm, alongside all LEO schools, will launch 'HAPPY', the Trust's pupil well-being strategy on the week beginning 22nd March. There will be a number of activities in school throughout the week to promote well-being amongst all of our pupils. HAPPY stands for....

You Matter

We will be sharing further details during the week but want to draw your attention to a dress-up day on Tuesday 23rd March that we would like children to engage in. The theme of the day will be ASPIRATIONS and we would like children to come to school dressed up based on what they would like to be when they grow up. There will be further details closer to the time but we wanted to give you some time to think about what your child might like to wear to school on that day.

NEWS

All change for PM Nursery....

At the end of this term, Wednesday 31st March, we will be saying goodbye to Hayley Lyndon as Grace Campbell returns from her maternity leave.

While it is always difficult to see members of our community move on, we wish Hayley well in the future and thank her for all her hard work and commitment to Cheam Park Farm and wish her well in her new post at our hub school, Brookfield.

Grace Campbell will be returning to the Cheam Park Farm team as our Afternoon Nursery teacher after the Easter holidays. She will continue to share her immense expertise and experience as a teacher.

Neurodiversity Celebration Week: 15th - 21st March

We are very pleased to be joining in with this event this year and celebrating Neurodiversity. This year, our focus for this week will be on ADHD, Dyslexia and Dyspraxia (please note the ASD awareness week is 29th March) - we will be helping the children to understand our differences and celebrating what makes us unique!

We would be really grateful if any parents would mind sharing their experiences in any of these areas to help us to understand these better and we will also be learning more about celebrities who have shared their own personal experiences. If you think you can help, please get in touch via the school office on either site.

Parking

Please can we remind parents to be considerate of our neighbours and not park over residents driveways and not to stop on the yellow lines or zig-zag areas outside school.

Red Nose Day

Red Nose Day is next week - Friday 19th March. We will be selling red noses in school all week next week. They cost £1.50 so please make sure you get yours before they run out. On Friday, children can come into school dressed as a superhero for a £1 donation. We look forward to seeing all their costumes next week.

COVID UPDATES

This section of our newsletter gives you any updates as they occur regarding the ongoing changes due to Covid. We will update links below with the latest government and Department for Education guidance as well as share with you any changes made in school as we react to these updates.

Sending Children Into School

Please ensure that you are not sending any child into school who is displaying one of the three symptoms of Coronavirus in children (high temperature, new continuous cough or a loss of smell/taste). Please note, children DO NOT need to be displaying all three of these symptoms. If they are displaying any one of these symptoms then your child should not be in school. We also remind all parents that if one child is suffering from any one of these symptoms then the whole family must stay away from school. DO NOT send a sibling of a child with these symptoms into school. We are relying on parents providing us with accurate information as to why your child is not in school so please help us to fully understand your child's symptoms so that we can support the entire school community as best we can. You may find this flowchart useful for deciding if you should send your child into school.

Latest Guidance

We will always signpost you to the most up-to-date guidance regarding Coronavirus via this button. Please familiarise yourself with this information regularly so that you are aware of any changes.

School Drop Off and Pick Up

Many thanks to parents for adhering to our procedures for drop off and collection. We feel the system is working well and we continue to welcome any suggestions for further improvements. Please continue to ensure that you are adhering to these measures and maintaining distance from each other and staff members during drop off and collection.

Teachers are available to speak to before and after school, but this should be used for quick messages only. Longer discussions should be held in an arranged appointment time. Please email the school office to arrange this: cpfpoffice@leoacademytrust.co.uk

PTFA

The PTFA is excited to let you know that they will be launching an online second-hand uniform sale with items costing from as little as 50p so please look out for an email over the next few weeks. In the meantime, if you have any uniform that you would like to donate to the school, please wash it first and then place it in the purple wheelie bin - one at each site. We would welcome anything school related from bookbags, trousers, jumpers, dresses to school shoes, PE shoes, CPF beanie hats and so forth. Thank you for your support.

Wheelie bins are situated on both sites - next to the main entrance on the Kingston Site and next to Rainbow House on the Molesey Site.

PARENT WORKSHOPS

We always welcome parents in school helping in classes and we are pleased to let you know that we can continue to do this this term. We know how much our children benefit from this additional support, especially at the moment when so much time in school has been missed.

Please complete this form if you are interested in helping in school.

All PTFA helpers and volunteers in class are required to complete Safeguarding training and provide a current DBS certificate. Contact the office on either school site for advice on this.

SCHOOL LUNCHES

Our school catering provision is offered to all children across the Trust by LEO Catering, our in house catering supplier.

The menus are created and refreshed three times a year, catering for children with allergies and are available to view below.

Our menus follow government food standard guidelines and offer excellent value at £2.30 a day for a main meal, dessert, choice of salad bar, fresh bread daily and vegetarian and Halal options. Children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 receive a free meal funded by the government's Universal Infant Free School Meal grant and we encourage anyone in any year group who thinks they may be eligible to apply for free school meal funding to apply.
