Welcome back, everyone! We've hit the ground running with an action-packed start to the new term, and it's been wonderful to see all the children back and engaged.

Our Year 4 adventurers had an absolutely brilliant time on their trip to Sayers Croft. They challenged themselves with bouldering, scaled new heights rock climbing, and explored the depths caving – truly a memorable experience for them all!

We were incredibly proud of our Year 5 group who attended the Kindness Rocks event at Epsom College. They participated enthusiastically in various activities and even took to the stage with some fantastic performances, showcasing their talents and our school values. Our Year 2 children had a great time developing their cricket skills at All Stars Cricket, learning teamwork and getting active.

Looking ahead, next week promises to be just as exciting! We'll be diving into Money Week, with lots of engaging activities planned to teach the children about financial literacy. Plus, we're all looking forward to cheering on our youngest pupils at the Nursery and Reception sports days. It's shaping up to be another busy and fulfilling week for everyone!

School Lunches 

When sending children off to school or activities, it's vital to remember that their packed lunch plays a huge role in their energy levels, concentration, and overall well-being throughout the day. A well-balanced lunch provides the essential nutrients they need to learn, play, and grow. Please make sure the children have a healthy packed lunch that includes a variety of food groups to keep them feeling full and focused. Consider including a source of protein (like lean meat, cheese, or hummus), whole grains (such as wholemeal bread or pasta), plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables (like carrot sticks, apple slices, or grapes), and a healthy drink like water or milk. 

Pick up and drop offs reminders

Just a friendly reminder about school timings and safety during drop-off. Please make sure your children arrive at school on time. The gates close promptly at 8:45 AM. Arriving on time ensures a smooth start to the day for everyone and helps children settle into their routines without disruption.

We also ask that you please remember to drive slowly when entering the drop-off zone. Children could be getting out of or into cars, and a reduced speed helps us ensure everyone's safety. Your cooperation in keeping our school community safe and punctual is greatly appreciated!

End of Year reports 

End of year school reports will be sent out virtually during the week commencing July 7th. Reports will be distributed by year group; however, please be aware that there might be a slight delay in receiving the report due to system processing.

Celebrating achievements 

If your child has celebrated a sporting achievement and you would like them to be included in the newsletter, please let us know by completing this form. There is an option to attach photos/certificates if you would like but this is optional. 

We have updated the Amazon Wishlist with books that we would like to have in each class for storytime. You may view the list of items by following this link. Once purchased, these items will be delivered directly to school and opened with the children – what a great treat!

Hurst Park Primary Academy is looking for volunteers to enhance children's learning. Volunteers are highly valued and appreciated by children and staff. In the past, volunteers have helped children with reading and maintaining the Library. Volunteers must complete a comprehensive induction programme, including a DBS check, and adhere to our Safeguarding procedures. Year 4 

What a couple of days it's been for Year 4 at Sayers Croft! The children threw themselves into every activity with incredible resilience and brilliant teamwork.

From navigating the tight squeezes of the caves to conquering the high ropes and mastering bouldering challenges, they supported each other every step of the way. They also took on the land and sea rescue challenge, showcasing their quick thinking and collaborative spirit. And of course, there was time for some well-deserved fun in the swimming pool!

What an amazing adventure filled with fun, exploration, and incredible achievements.

A massive thank you to all the adults who facilitated this fantastic trip and made it such a memorable experience for Year 4!

What a fantastic couple of days it has been for our Year 4 children who were at school. They kicked things off by designing and making their own delicious pizzas, showing off their culinary skills. They also delved into a thoughtful discussion about our inner and outer selves, drawing their facial features on the outside and exploring what makes us unique on the inside, including our diverse hobbies, likes, and dislikes. They were also inspired by the environmental artist Andy Goldsworthy, who uses natural materials like leaves, sticks, and clay in his work. This led to the creation of their own beautiful piece of art called ‘Our Nature Circle’, using natural materials found in the playground. It wasn't all about art though; Year 4 also buddied up with Year 1 children, who read beautifully to them, and they even showcased their baking talents by making heart and circle shaped jam tarts. To round out their time, they enjoyed some mindful colouring, discussing positivity and self-worth, and creating mindful posters. They even found time to have some fun playing with the Reception children this afternoon.

Year 5 Kindness Rocks 

A group of Year 5 children took part in Kindness Rocks event Epsom College. First activity - was to decorate kindness rocks that they can take away to put at school/community/home to spread kindness. Then the children created their own kindness mural.
