A Week of Non-Stop Learning and Excitement!

This week has been incredibly busy, overflowing with a fantastic array of activities and significant milestones for our pupils. From diving into the world of finance to celebrating athletic achievements, there's been something for everyone!

We're thrilled to be celebrating Money Week, an exciting initiative designed to equip our children with essential financial literacy skills. Through a variety of engaging activities, we'll be exploring concepts like saving, spending wisely, and understanding the value of money, setting a strong foundation for their future. Beyond the classroom, our Nursery and Reception children had an absolutely brilliant time at their Sports Days showcasing their skills and teamwork.

This week also saw important academic assessments take place. Our Year 4 students diligently completed their multiplication check, demonstrating their progress in this key area of mathematics. Similarly, Year 1 pupils successfully undertook their phonics screening, a vital step in their reading journey. Reinforcing the importance of well-being, we also observed Healthy Eating Week, promoting nutritious choices and healthy habits that will benefit our children for years to come.

Our pupils have also had the opportunity to broaden their horizons through enriching educational visits. Year 2 embarked on a fascinating trip to a mosque, gaining valuable insight into different cultures and beliefs. Year 3 journeyed back in time with a captivating visit to the Tutankhamun exhibition, sparking their curiosity about ancient history. Finally, a group of Year 6 children experienced the very heart of British democracy with a memorable visit to the Houses of Parliament, providing a unique civics lesson.

Celebrating achievements 

If your child has celebrated a sporting achievement and you would like them to be included in the newsletter, please let us know by completing this form. There is an option to attach photos/certificates if you would like but this is optional. 

We have updated the Amazon Wishlist with books that we would like to have in each class for storytime. You may view the list of items by following this link. Once purchased, these items will be delivered directly to school and opened with the children – what a great treat!

Hurst Park Primary Academy is looking for volunteers to enhance children's learning. Volunteers are highly valued and appreciated by children and staff. In the past, volunteers have helped children with reading and maintaining the Library. Volunteers must complete a comprehensive induction programme, including a DBS check, and adhere to our Safeguarding procedures. Volunteering hours are flexible.  If you are interested in making a difference, please complete the Volunteer Registration form  to apply. Please note that volunteers will not be placed in their child's class.

Nursery Sports Day

Our Nursery children had an absolutely brilliant time at their very first Sports Day! It was wonderful to see so much energy and enthusiasm from everyone. The children giggled their way through a running race, carefully balanced their "eggs" in the egg and spoon race, and showed off their speed in the collecting objects in a basket challenge. Every child was a superstar, and we were so proud of their effort and sportsmanship!

Year 2 

Year 2 loved their trip to the local Molesey Mosque! We thoroughly enjoyed learning more about Islam which added to our learning from our recent RE lessons. We also saw how Muslims prepare for prayer, how they pray and the importance of Allah, and were able to join in with some of the prayer rituals. We asked some brilliant questions and it was amazing to hear our peers talk so confidently and proudly about their religion and the religion of others.

This week we engaged in healthy eating activities! Year 2 loved creating their own fruit or vegetable. We spoke about where our fruit will grow and how it will taste! Can you spot our delicious, yummy new creations?

Year 3

What a phenomenal day our Year 3 explorers had on their recent trip to London Excel! We were incredibly lucky to experience the amazing Tutankhamun immersive exhibition.

The children were absolutely thrilled to see real artefacts unearthed from the Tutankhamun’s tomb, bringing history to life right before their eyes! They were also completely captivated by the exciting immersive theatre, stepping right into the stories of ancient Egypt. And for a truly unforgettable moment, the fantastic VR experience transported everyone directly to the hot sands and grand temples of Egypt – it felt like we were really there! It was truly an unforgettable experience!

Outdoor Learning 

Year 5 ended their Forest School journey in the tastiest way — cooking damper bread on sticks over the fire! A perfect finish to weeks of wild learning and woodland fun.

Year 6

Year 6 were invited to watch the Dress Rehearsal of 'The Addams Family' at Esher High School on Wednesday morning. The children really enjoyed the show and have gained lots of inspiration for the rehearsals of their version of 'Shrek.'

Money Week 

This week, our Year 2 classroom transformed into a bustling shop for Money Week! The children absolutely loved taking turns as shopkeepers and customers, practising counting and exchanging money. It was wonderful to see how enthusiastic and engaged they were as they learned about the value of different coins and how to make transactions in a fun, real-world way. We are so proud of all their hard work and the brilliant maths skills they have developed!

Huge well done to our Y5/6 netball team in today’s match vs Hinchley Wood! Fantastic movement and sharp passing led to a well-deserved win They now progress to the semi-finals!
