@Place2Be is asking everyone to think about what makes them feel brave.

We are celebrating World Book Day (WBD) on Thursday 5th March 2020. WBD celebrates the joy and value of books and reading.
On WBD your child will be taking part in lots of fun activities. Such activities will include: Drop Everything and Read!, Mystery Storyteller, sharing favourite stories with pupils of different ages, as well as fun book quizzes and other book related activities.
On this special day, your child can come to school dressed as their favourite character from any book. The dressing up possibilities are endless: Postman Pat, Oliver Twist, Fantastic Mr Fox, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, James and the Giant Peach, Matilda, Jack and the Beanstalk, Cinderella, The Gruffalo, Harry Potter etc.
In addition to the above, there will also be a book-themed competition.
This year we are asking the children to create a ‘Book in a Box’, where they can represent any story of their choice… inside a box!
See the photographs below for some ideas.
All entries should be handed in to your child’s class teacher by Wednesday 26th February with their name and class clearly shown.
Winners will be revealed on Friday 28th February and will receive a book token which they can use at our fair the following week.
We will once again be holding our annual Scholastic Book Fair on the following dates in the school Resource Area and entrance will be via the school office:
Payment for books will be by cash only and it would be wonderful if you could bring coins to pay where possible. The children will be given the opportunity to browse the books during the school day. Cheam Fields receives a proportion of all sales, which is then reinvested in books for the school.
Children are never too young to start their journey with books and the benefits of reading are enormous so we hope, like us, you will use World Book Day to celebrate the joy of reading alongside your child.

Gregory Cool - Caroline Binch
When Gregory wakes up on his first day in Tobago with his grandparents, his heart sinks. The food is strange, the sun too hot, his cousin Lennox is on another wave length, and there are none of the televisions, video games and other high-tech gadgets that a cool city-boy takes for granted. How will Gregory adjust to the strange culture? And will he learn to enjoy the lifestyle of the Caribbean?
