What an amazing week we have had!
Across the school the children have been able to take part in lots of wonderful opportunities, including:
Hip Hop dance workshops, African drumming sessions, art lessons with Priyanka our visiting artist, Love Theatre Arts workshops. making our own Lion King Mask, sewing and learning a song in Makaton sign. We even had a visit from an illustrator who taught Year 5 how to illustrate animals and Year 4 visited the Tate Britain.
Yesterday, we had a visit from Jo from the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation who led assemblies and workshops all about endangered animals. Art week even took over the lunch hall with our African Special Taster Day!
Thank you so much for your contributions to this week, without them we could not have provided such a huge range of experiences for the children.
Art work produced this week will be on show in our gallery , after school on Friday 31st January. We can't wait to share all our creations with you.
Year 2 enjoyed making fruit salads as part of their ‘How are you?’ exit point.

Boy Overboard - Morris Gleitzman
Jamal loves playing football, which isn't easy if your goalie only has one leg and you keep having to dodge landmines to get your ball back. Jamal's stubborn little sister Bibi is even better at football than Jamal. But girls playing football is against the law in Afghanistan. When it is discovered that Jamal's mother has been secretly running a school, the family must leave their home immediately and begin a long and dangerous journey to Australia. The children survive separation from their parents, hunger, and violent smugglers only to find that Australia isn't as welcoming as they had thought but, even though they face an uncertain future, Jamal, Bibi and their parents know that as long as they are together, that is all that matters.
