Reminders

No Balls to be brought to school...

Equipment is provided by the school for the children to use at play times. Please do not allow your child to bring balls to school as we find this causes arguments and upsets - especially if another child throws or kicks the ball over the fence!

Learning

Forest Schools

This week the children in the Reception classes have enjoyed toasting marshmallows on the campfire (delicious) and singing campfire songs.

Year 3 and 4 Habitats Workshop

This week Year 3 and 4 enjoyed a brilliant workshop as the exip point to their IPC topic 'Do You Live Around here'. The workshop involved using team building skills to create shelters in different climates and see how environment conditions would effect the structure type. The children worked collaboratively and used their imaginations to solve problems.

Year 2 Exit Point

Year 2 have worked extremely hard this term and as part of their exit point they had an end of topic showcase to present all their amazing work on 'Flowers and Insects'. They even gave the parents a preview of some of the songs that they will be performing at their upcoming Music Morning.

Nursery

This week the children in the Nursery Class made shortbread biscuits. They mixed the ingredients together, rolled out the pastry and then used a cutter to make the biscuit shape.

Maths Week London

We wanted to let you know that Cheam Fields is taking part in Maths Week London 2019. This will take place across the week from 10th June to 14th June. Maths Week London is an opportunity to build children's confidence, nurturing a love of maths and sparking an interest in a subject that impacts all of our lives.

How to get involved:

If you would like to have a look at Maths activities to do at home:

visit www.mathsweeklondon.org/parents to download free resources.

Children will be taking part in different maths activities throughout the week. Look out for the pictures and updates on twitter!

Why not ask your child how they used our

Word of the Week?

Year 1: rustling

Year 2: ambition

Years 3 & 4: predictable

Years 5 & 6: boisterous

Each week we put a brief synopsis of one of our Battle of the Books in the newsletter from a year group’s book list.

This week's book is 'I Was A Rat' by Phillip Pullman and is from the Year 4 book list.

When a small boy turns up on Bob and Joan's doorstep unable to say much, except 'I was a rat', the kindly couple adopt him. It seems strange but Bob reads about odder things every day in his newspaper. To them, the sunny little chap is Roger, and he's trying hard to adapt to human life.

The children need to remember to fill in a book review once they have read a book!
