St Raphael’s Hospice care for people with terminal illnesses in Merton and Sutton. They need £6 million a year to run, relying heavily on public donations and fundraising as only 24% is received from the NHS.
Every year they make Easter hampers that they ask the local community to raffle to raise funds. Hospice mascot Lenny needs help to fill as many hampers as possible with Easter Eggs of all shapes and sizes. If you can help by donating an egg or box of chocolates, you can drop them into any of the 10 St Raphael’s charity shops, hand them in to reception at the Hospice in London Road or alternatively, drop them into the school office by Monday 16th March.
The hampers will be raffled through local businesses and community groups. All proceeds will ensure that St Raphael’s can continue providing expert end of life care every day.
Lenny hopes to have enough eggs to make 40 hampers and also give every patient and their family a visit from the Easter bunny on Easter Sunday.

This week, children and staff at Cheam Fields have whizzed, fizzed and crashed their way through British Science Week.
Throughout the week, the children have had the chance to work with some inspiring science professionals. The Science Museum’s Mrs O'Brien Skerry kicked off the week with some super science storytelling while Year Six pupils headed over to Overton Grange to explore changes of state with Mr and Mrs Gorley in their science labs. The Bubble Lady amazed us with smokey, super strong bubbles and Sublime Science’s Sherbet making workshop went down a treat! Later in the week, teachers and pupils jammed with recycled instruments from the Junk Orchestra as we explored the science of sound. Year five wrapped up the week’s visits with a trip to Whitehall in Cheam where they took part in a STEAM themed workshop led by Port-a-Lab.
In classrooms and at home, the fun continued with the children investigating their own scientific questions. Our Reception children began thinking like engineers as they designed and tested boats to transport the Billy Goats Gruff safely across the river. In Year Three, children tumbled toast whilst year four flew their super spinners. Throughout the week, pupils from Year Five and Six have been busily preparing their own science demonstrations to showcase in our science fair to celebrate the week’s achievements.
This week has been a great success which has been thoroughly enjoyed by all. We would like to thank you for all your support in making our super science week possible.
Remember to check out the Home Learning page on the website to find details of your optional projects!
Make sure you come and show Miss Shaw and Mrs Townsend.

Cliffhanger - Jacqueline Wilson
From climbing and abseiling to canoeing and a Crazy Bucket Race, Tim's adventure holiday promises to be full of action. There's just one problem: he is hopeless at sports of any kind.
Can Tim survive the horrors of a week absolutely packed with activity? Can his team - the Tigers - be the overall champions? There are some surprises in store for everyone!

Trolltunga is a rock jutting into space 700 metres above Ringedalsvatnet lake!
The hike through high-mountain terrain up to Trolltunga is long and demanding, but you are rewarded with magnificent views.
