On Wednesday, Year 2 visited The Florence Nightingale Museum - they had a great day!
"I enjoyed learning about Florence Nightingale on our school trip. I learnt that hospital conditions were dirty and they had lots of rats during the Crimea war, but Florence changed the hospitals for the soldiers by cleaning them, giving patients hot food and looking after them when they were injured. I also learnt that she was the first lady to receive an order of merit for all her hard work." Matheo
"My favourite part of the trip was meeting Florence Nightingale and learning about her life. I learnt that Florence was called 'The Lady with the Lamp' because her patients always saw her carrying her lamp at night. We even saw her statue, lamp and medals!" Lottie
"Wow, what a great trip! I learnt that Florence Nightingale was a famous nurse in the past who helped lots of soldiers. When she returned home from the Crimea war, she wrote many books about nursing and opened a training school for nurses. We even saw Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament and the London Eye!" Ewa
"On Wednesday, we went to The Florence Nightingale Museum. My favourite part was looking in the spy holes and wearing the headphones. I found out that Florence Nightingale cleaned the hospital." Zara
Reception children arrived on Wednesday to find a crime scene in the playground! Humpty Dumpty had fallen off the wall!
Luckily, the children knew exactly what to do! They all donned their Police Officer badges and investigated what had happened.
This week we have been 'Finding our brave' as part of Children's Mental Health Week.
Sonny has invented a new mobile phone which also has a drone!
Well done Sonny!
Teddy, Vianne, Albert, Logan and Sonny have all been busy researching famous people from the past!
Great work!
Sophie has been finding out all about Florence Nightingale!
Excellent job Sophie!
Remember to check out the Home Learning page on the website to find details of your optional projects!
Make sure you come and show Miss Shaw and Mrs Townsend.

Boy Overboard - Morris Gleitzman
Jamal loves playing football, which isn't easy if your goalie only has one leg and you keep having to dodge landmines to get your ball back. Jamal's stubborn little sister Bibi is even better at football than Jamal. But girls playing football is against the law in Afganistan. When it is discovered that Jamal's mother has been secretly running a school, the family must leave their home immediately and begin a long and dangerous journey to Australia. The children survive separation from their parents, hunger, and violent smugglers only to find that Australia isn't as welcoming as they had thought but, even though they face an uncertain future, Jamal, Bibi and their parents know that as long as they are together, that is all that matters.

On Monday, members of our KS2 choir joined other choirs from around the country at The O2. It was an amazing night of singing and the children had a wonderful time.
Young Voices was a brilliant experience! We travelled to the O2 Arena by coach where we had lunch. Then, we had a long rehearsal singing our songs: Ode to Joy (it's Beethoven's 250th birthday); The Queen Medley (We WIll Rock You, Crazy Little Thing, Who Wants to Live Forever, One Vision, Don't Stop me Now); Shiny Happy People and Ghostbusters! The concert was incredible! I couldn't believe that we got to sing with the winner of The Voice, The Shires and Tony Hadley! What an incredible night-my favourite song was 'Best of the West'.
