Welcome Back!

Active Citizens Need Your Help!

As we enter a second lockdown, our citizenship captains would like to help people in the community to feel less isolated.

If you know of someone (a neighbour or relative for example) who lives alone or will have to shield for the next month, please email their name and address to the school office so that our active citizens can send them something to brighten their day.

Please send the email F.A.O Miss Weeks.

Thank you for your help during these difficult times.

Reminders

-Please make sure your child has a jumper in school as well as another warm jumper/fleece/jacket (this does not need to be school uniform). Classrooms have to be kept well ventilated and as the colder weather continues, they will need to keep warm.

-Please wear face masks when on the school site (unless you are exempt for medical reasons).

Winston's Wish - Charity Sky Dive

One of our parents is going to do a bungee jump on December 19th to raise money for Winston's Wish. This amazing charity supports children after the death of a parent or sibling.

Click here to read more information about Winston's Wish.

If you would like to make a donation to help this charity continue it's great work, please click here.

I am sure you will join us in wishing Miss Draper all the best for the big event!

Battle of the Books

This half term we are please to let the Battle of the Books commence!

Each class has been provided with a box of books from their Year Group’s ‘Battle of the Books’ list. Once your child has read one of these books they should complete a book review and hand it to their class teacher, who will then add a sticker or tick to the class Battle of the Books chart. Each term we will celebrate those children and classes who have been reading avidly.

Happy reading!

Please click the links below to see the book lists for each year group.

Year 1 Year 2 Year 3 Year 4 Year 5 Year 6

Each week we put a brief synopsis of one of our Battle of the Books in the newsletter from a year group’s book list.

This week's book is 'Lost and Found' by Oliver Jeffers and is from the Year 1 book list.

There once was a boy and one day a penguin arrives on his doorstep. The boy decides the penguin must be lost and tries to return him. But no one seems to be missing a penguin. So the boy decides to take the penguin home himself, and they set out in his row boat on a journey to the South Pole. But when they get there, the boy discovers that maybe home wasn’t what the penguin was looking for after all.

The children need to remember to fill in a book review once they have read a book!

Design a Secret Garden Competition

Sky Cinema in partnership with the RHS (Royal Horticultural Society) is delighted to offer this exciting opportunity for young gardeners and visionaries to take part in an exclusive competition.

They would like young people to imagine they have discovered the gates to a hidden, secret garden and to let them know what it looks like.

You can choose how you would like to showcase their garden.

Perhaps you could draw or paint your design, create a collage or model, or even plant up a miniature version of it.

The winner will have the chance to see their garden, or elements of it, brought to life either in their school or in a community space. The winner and runners up will also win a movie goody bag.

Deadline for entries is November 19th 2020
