Learning Together, Growing Together

WELCOME BACK!

Welcome back to the new academic year!

We hope everyone had a restful summer and that the children are looking forward to another exciting year of achievements and new experiences.

We want every child at Cheam Fields to realise their potential and we look forward to working in partnership with you again as we continue to improve our school. We hope your children continue to enjoy coming to Cheam Fields and that while they are here, they work hard and make the necessary progress and, of course, maintain the excellent behaviour that the school prides itself upon.

Your child should have a home a reading record/homework diary by Monday 9th September. Please can you check and sign the diary every week and record how much your child is reading at home in it, while encouraging your child to read every day.

We really do value the help and support parents give the school, and know that children make the most progress when parents and the school work closely together.

Information about our extra-curricular clubs for the Autumn Term can be found in the Opportunity section of this newsletter.

Enterprise and Careers Aspiration Week

What an exciting way to start the year!

Here at Cheam Fields children are learning all about work - the business kind! In Key Stage 1, children have been learning about different jobs and important places in the community. In Key Stage 2, children have been learning vocabulary associated with business, currency around the world and what makes a good sales pitch.

Next week, to encourage high aspirations in our children, we have guests from many different professions coming in to talk to the children about their lives at work. In addition, children will be learning about business processes and even designing their own products to sell in order to raise money to further support their learning. Watch out for your child’s business project over the next few months.

Learning together, growing together, the entrepreneurs of the future start right here, right now!

Maths Update

Welcome back everyone!

We made an exciting start to our Maths learning this week.

Year 5 have already immersed themselves in practising their times tables on Times Tables Rockstars!

Fun Fact!

17th September would have been the 156th birthday of German Mathematician Bernhard Riemann who dedicated his entire life to Geometry.

He made some significant discoveries such as different equations and formulae used in three-dimensional surface problem solving.

Can you research and find out what other famous mathematicians were born in September?

What are they famous for?
