Our Trip to the Science Museum by Lily (Year 4)
On Wednesday 27th February, we went on a trip to the Science Museum. We had the best time ever!
We went on a bus to the train station and then we got on a train to the Science Museum in London. We saw lots of steam train engines that James Watt had built. We also saw lots of rockets and found out how engines work. There was a huge ball that showed all of the planets and information about the amazing planets. After that, we had our yummy lunch.
With excitement, we went to the Wonderlab. In the Wonderlab we explored many different things including a smoke cloud which we could play with. We went to see an explosion show, where a scientist created explosions. This was very loud! Then we saw a lightning bolt which was amazing to see.
After all of that we went home the same way we came.
How Are You?
On Tuesday 26th February Year 2 completed their entry point for their new topic ‘how are you?’ They were looking at exercise and how it effects their bodies, hearts and muscles.
Quiz Club by Theo (Year 5)
At Quiz Club on Wednesday, we came second. During the first range of questions, we were leading, but the final questions were the ones that held us back and we ended up coming second in what was a very close race. Although we were nervous and trembling all over, it was fun and we learned a lot of new things that we never expected. I would love to do it again!
Why not ask your child how they used our
Word of the Week?
Year 1: amuse
Year 2: mischief
Years 3 & 4: deter
Years 5 & 6: indomitable
Each week we put a brief synopsis of one of our Battle of the Books in the newsletter from a year group’s book list.
This week’s book is 'The Day the Crayons Quit’ by Oliver Jeffers and is from the Year 2 book list.
Poor Duncan just wants to colour in. But when he opens his box of crayons, he only finds letters, all saying the same thing: We quit.
Beige is tired of playing second fiddle to Brown, Blue needs a break from colouring in all that water, while Pink just wants to be used. Green has no complaints, but Orange and Yellow are no longer speaking to each other.
The battle lines have been drawn. What is Duncan to do?
The children need to remember to fill in a book review once they have read a book!

Opportunity
Choir
Following the success of the Young Voices Concert at the O2 Arena in January, we would like to develop our KS2 Choir further. We would like to invite children from Years 3, 4 and 5 to join our weekly rehearsals in order to prepare for the musical extravaganza of the year. The LEO Schools Concert will be held towards the end of the summer term and involve vocal and instrumental ensembles from across the trust, celebrating the talented children we have in our academy .
It is a well known fact that singing in a group setting can improve health and happiness so please encourage your child to become part of our amazing choir! If your child would like to join choir, please write a note to the office to let us know (for Year 5 children, please also state whether you will be collecting or whether they can walk home).
