LEO Parents' Questionnaire
The LEO Academy Trust values input from pupils and families. You are an important partner as we work to improve our communication, pupil progress and overall experience for pupils and their families.
In order to learn more about pupils and family experiences in LEO Academy Trust, we are asking for feedback via this anonymous survey, designed to take no more than 5 to 10 minutes to complete. The closing date for this survey is Friday 21 June 2019.

Verrucas
Please check your child's feet. Verrucas are very contagious and painful. There has been a big increase of reported cases of verrucas. If children have a verruca they can only swim if it is being treated and a verruca sock is worn whilst in the swimming pool and changing rooms. Verruca socks can be purchased for £2.00 each from the school Office.
Air Quality Around Our School
When waiting in you car to collect your child from school, please switch your engine off rather than sitting in the car with the engine running. We have very concerned neighbours who have pointed out that this practice is not only very bad for the air quality but it is also illegal; the Highway Code states:
On a public road, it indeed is illegal to sit in your car whilst keeping the engine running within the UK. The Highway Code states: 'You MUST NOT leave a parked vehicle unattended with the engine running or leave a vehicle engine running unnecessarily while that vehicle is stationary on a public road'.
So please help us to improve air quality around our school... together we can make a difference.

The children used their imaginations and showed great perseverance whilst creating a programmable animal using technology from Lego. The children enjoyed building their animal and writing the code to make it move. It was lovely to see them collaborating in their teams and across the Trust. Have a look at one of our creations in action.
Raisin Discovery Day
This week our catering team organised a raisin discovery day. Information was on display for the children to find out how good raisins are for you and they were able to taste them in dishes that were on the menu. They tried red grapes, raisin bread, carrot and raisin salad and raisin cookies ... delicious!

Word of the Week?
Year 1 & 2: looting
Years 3 & 4: plead
Years 5 & 6: resident
Each week we put a brief synopsis of one of our Battle of the Books in the newsletter from a year group’s book list.
This week's book is 'Carrie’s War' by Nina Bawden and is from the Year 6 book list.
Set in WW2, Carrie and her little brother are evacuated to Wales and billeted at the home of the bullying Mr Evans and his timid sister Lou. Unhappy at home, they love visiting fellow evacue, Albert, at the farm of Druid's Bottom. Here they meet Hepzibah Green, who knows magical stories, and Mister Johnny, who speaks a language all his own. But then things go wrong and Carrie takes things into her own hands - without guessing the awful consequences.
The children need to remember to fill in a book review once they have read a book!

Workshop introduction by Yvonne
‘We all dream of creating a perfect long summer holiday for our family, with happy, carefree children, and smiling, calm and patient parents. Picnics on the beach and brothers and sisters who always play nicely together. Instead, real-life happens, and it often has other ideas, especially when there’s a child with an additional need in the family.
This workshop looks at all the competing demands and priorities that school holidays can bring and find solutions to meeting many of our children’s differing needs.
We’ll look at reducing anxieties, pre-empting upsets and meltdowns, having fun at home when you can’t go out, how to banish boredom, how to not spend too much money, how to manage unexpected change and things going wrong, and how to keep your energies recharged while protecting your own emotional well-being. Plus lots more.
It would be great if you can join us and meet other local parents who “get it” and start to build a school holiday toolbox of coping strategies that work.’
PLACES FOR THE WORKSHOP AND CRECHE MUST BE BOOKED BY 28th June 2019
