As you may be aware, our clubs start next week. Please see details below and Arbor is avalable to check if you are unsure which clubs your child will be attending.
Morning clubs
If your child is attending a club that takes place before school, they will need to arrive at the school office between 7:40-7:45am. They should already be wearing their sports kit for this club and should bring their school uniform to change into afterwards.
Lunchtime clubs
Club lists will be on display in every classroom. Children are responsible for ensuring that they have an early lunch (arriving at the lunchhall at 12pm); they should then go to the classroom that the club is taking place in.
3:15pm clubs
Most of our clubs start immediately after school, between 3:15-4:15pm. Once dismissed by their class teacher, they should go to the classroom that the club takes place in. If your child's club is led by our Sports Team (Mr Greaves, Miss Mills, Miss Eldridge or Mr Honeysett), they should go to the Year 6 area to meet their adult. If your child is unsure, they can go to the school office, where they will be shown to their club. Once they have arrived, they should quickly get changed into sports kit if needed. Children will be shown where to go for the first week.
Children should be collected from the car park at 4:15pm. If you are running more than 10 minutes late, these children will be taken to the school office. If your child also has a 4:30pm club that day, they should wait at the school office for this club to start.
4:30pm clubs
If your child is attending a 4:30pm club, they should be dropped at the school office at 4:30pm. They should be collected from the school office at 5:30pm. This is due to the car park being too dark at this time later in the term.
All children in Sutton will automatically qualify for Universal Free School Meals, but this does not mean automatic qualification for benefit-related Free School Meals.
It is vitally important that you still complete your school or borough’s registration form in case your child is eligible for extra funding for their school from the Government, worth £1,300 per year. That’s extra money to spend on enrichment activities, teacher development, and targeted support for the children that need it most. Depending on how schemes operate in your borough, it may also entitle you to other benefits like food vouchers during the holidays. Please register for Pupil Premium here.

Children across the school wrote a wishlist of the different books that they would like to see in their library and their classrooms.
We have collated this wishes and have put together an Amazon Wish List, which can be found here. If parents and families wish, there are over a hundred books that children are desperate to read on the list and these can be ordered as a present to our school. Alternatively, if you notice a book on the list that your children no longer read, we are always grateful for any donations!
It has also been suggested by our children that, on a birthday, rather than bringing sweets in for their classmates, children choose a book on the list that they would like to donate to their class. This also falls in line with our commitment to promoting healthy lifestyles. On the order, there is an option to leave a message - you can specify which class the book is for. As ever, we recognise that money can be tight so please note that this is entirely optional. Any support is always appreciated.
We have spent this week settling into our classes and getting to know one another. Come back here next week to see all of the different events that we have been taking part in.
Sofia and her dance group, Stagecoach, took part in a trip to Disneyland Paris over the summer to take part in a 'Dance the Dream' Experience. Sofia and her friends took part in singing and dancing workshops run by Disney professionals over four days. They performed a song from the Lion King at the main Disneyland gate as the park was opened to the general public. She also took part in the Disneyland pre-parade alongside the Disneyland Main Street.
We are so proud of Sofia!
If you would like to share your child's achievements outside of school with us, we'd love to hear them! Please email the school office.

SEND & Inclusion Updates
Young Carers at Cheam Common
At Cheam Common Junior Academy, we hold a weekly small group session to support children across the school who fulfil the role of ‘Young Carer’ because they have a sibling or parent with serious health issues, special educational needs or disabilities (SEND).
We want to celebrate the important role our Young Carers play, but also recognise that they may face challenges and pressures not shared by the general school population.
The group meets during assembly time and is led by Mrs Hart.
If you would like your child to take part please complete this form.
If you have any questions about the group, please feel free to contact us at ccjsend@leoacademytrust.co.uk

‘Small Change, Big Difference’ Parent Group for parents of children with a diagnosis of autism.'
We are also looking to host another Small Change, Big Difference course with Adapt to Learn. For those that are unfamiliar with this course, we run this as an alternative to the Early Bird programme. Some information about this is below. If you are interested in attending this course, please email: sutton@nas.org.uk and we'll be in touch.
The aim is to empower parents, supporting them to help their children by developing an in-depth understanding of autism. Taking a positive approach, we will explore, share and discuss practical strategies to help develop communication skills, pre-empt and manage behaviour and gain confidence and resilience.
During the sessions, parents will be given the opportunity to make connections, gain support and feel less isolated.
Each course comprises of four x 1.5-hour sessions and will cover a range of topics.
