School Updates

Clubs

A reminder that our clubs are starting next week. Arbor will have been updated with the clubs that your child has been allocated. We have tried hard to ensure that every child gets at least one of the clubs that they wanted. Some children may have more clubs than others; this will mainly be down to their choice of less popular clubs, which therefore have space.

Please ensure that your child arrives on time for their clubs. Missing two weeks of a club means that your child's space will be revoked and this space will be given to a child on the waiting list.

Absence Reporting

We have recently changed our absence policy and procedure. This has been emailed to all guardians earlier this week. A reminder of the key points are below.

If your child is absent from school due to illness or a same day medical appointment (e.g. emergency dental/GP appointment):

● You must complete this Cheam Common Junior Absence Form by 8.30am on each day of absence. If you have more than one child absent, please complete a form for each child. You will receive a confirmation that your form has been submitted. If you do not receive a response, please check your junk mail folder as a reply will always be generated.

● You may receive a call from the office if we require more information from you. We may request medical evidence from you.

If you need to request an exceptional absence during term time:

● You must complete this Request for Exceptional Absence form. This includes future medical/hospital appointments.

SEND & Inclusion Updates!

Young Carers at Cheam Common

At Cheam Common Junior Academy, we hold a weekly small group session to support children across the school who fulfil the role of ‘Young Carer’ because they have a sibling or parent with serious health issues, special educational needs or disabilities (SEND).

We want to celebrate the important role our Young Carers play, but also recognise that they may face challenges and pressures not shared by the general school population.

The group meets during assembly time and is led by Mrs Hart.

If you would like your child to take part please complete this form.

If you have any questions about the group, please feel free to contact us at ccjsend@leoacademytrust.co.uk
