On Friday 17th March, we will be celebrating Red Nose Day! We are inviting children to wear their pyjamas (or something bright and fun if they'd rather!) to school on this day. Children can bring a £1 donation if they wish, or parents can donate to Comic Relief using our JustGiving page if that is easier.
Children can also buy the brand-new Red Nose if they'd like. Our School Council will be walking around classes selling these noses between Monday 13th - Friday 17th March. Red Noses are £2.50 each - children can bring in cash for this. There is a brand-new design this year; you can find out more about it here.
As per the email that went out to parents today, the timings for the Year 5 Residential Trip to Devon are below:
Monday 27th March: Children should be outside the school gates by 5:45am. This is to ensure a prompt 6am departure.
Friday 31st March: Children are expected to arrive back at school at approximately 6:30pm. We will update parents on the day with our ETA, dependent on traffic.
Last week, you may have read that the Department for Education visited Cheam Common to find out more about how we use technology to support with teaching reading. The DfE created a short video and shared it on their social media yesterday. You can see this below:

SEND & Inclusion Updates!
Young Carers at Cheam Common
At Cheam Common Junior Academy, we hold a weekly small group session to support children across the school who fulfil the role of ‘Young Carer’ because they have a sibling or parent with serious health issues, special educational needs or disabilities (SEND).
We want to celebrate the important role our Young Carers play, but also recognise that they may face challenges and pressures not shared by the general school population.
The group meets during assembly time and is led by Mrs Hart.
If you would like your child to take part please complete this form.
If you have any questions about the group, please feel free to contact us at ccjsend@leoacademytrust.co.uk
