Cheam Common Junior Academy: Kingsmead Avenue, Worcester Park, KT4 8UT
Email: ccjoffice@leoacademytrust.co.uk http://www.cheamcommon.org.uk/
If you have been in our playground this week, you may have noticed two brand-new table tennis tables!
We are so grateful to the Friends of Cheam Common for purchasing these for us through the hard-earned funds that our school community has helped to raise. Table tennis is one of our most popular lunchtimes activities and this will help even more children take part.
Thank you!
This weekend, we would love to encourage our children to take part in the Big Schools' Birdwatch this term, led by our Eco Council.
Your child may have brought home a logging sheet today. They can complete this over the weekend and bring it in next week.
📸 We'd love to see any photos of our children completing their birdwatch at home. These can be sent to our office, or posted on Google Classroom.
We will be celebrating NSPCC Number Day on Thursday 6th February.
We would like to invite all children to wear number- and maths-themed costumes to school. If children would like to dress up as Times Tables Rockstars, they are more than welcome, and in fact encouraged!
If you would like to donate money to the NSPCC, you can do so here.
Please see details below of our February Half Term Holiday Club.
✉️ Please contact ccjwac@leoacademytrust.co.uk for more information.
We would like to invite all of our children who are celebrating Lunar New Year on Wednesday 29th January to wear their traditional clothing to school on this day if they wish. This year is the Year of the Wood Snake.
Please note that this is not a MUFTI day.
Please be reminded that Year 4 swimming lessons continue this Monday. Please ensure that children bring in swimming trunks/costumes, a towel and underwear to change into afterwards. Children with long hair should wear a swimming cap.

You can find out about the artists that we study at Cheam Common Junior Academy here. We are excited to hold our Arts Showcase on Monday afternoon, where children will view one another's artwork from the Autumn Term.
Children across the school wrote a wishlist of the different books that they would like to see in their library and their classrooms.
We have collated this wishes and have put together an Amazon Wish List, which can be found here. If parents and families wish, there are over a hundred books that children are desperate to read on the list and these can be ordered as a present to our school. Alternatively, if you notice a book on the list that your children no longer read, we are always grateful for any donations!
It has also been suggested by our children that, on a birthday, rather than bringing sweets in for their classmates, children choose a book on the list that they would like to donate to their class. This also falls in line with our commitment to promoting healthy lifestyles. On the order, there is an option to leave a message - you can specify which class the book is for. As ever, we recognise that money can be tight so please note that this is entirely optional. Any support is always appreciated.
Check out what our children have been up to this week at Cheam Common Junior Academy!
Polite reminder...
As you know, we are a healthy school and therefore ask if your child would like to celebrate their birthday, they donate a book to a library instead of bringing treats. This also ensures there are no concerns over allergies.
We have loved receiving some fantastic homework this term!
Remember: Each year group's homework matrix can be found in the section below. Completing these tasks is optional but can really help to enrich the children's learning and understanding of these topics.
Check out Sana's incredible Amazon-inspired collage and Freddie's structure that could survive an earthquake!
