Saturday 13th July, 11am-2pm
We are excited to be celebrating the Cheam Common Summer Fair on Saturday 13th July.
If you are able to give up one hour of your time to volunteer on one of the stalls, we would be incredibly grateful. These events can't run without the kindness of our parents and communities.
If you are interested in volunteering, please see the many options and sign up here.
Monday 24th - Friday 28th June
We would love to invite all children to take part in our latest competition: Design your own map for London Maths Week.
Please see all details below.
Throughout the rest of the term, we will be inviting many children to have a slot on our radio station.
Every week, four Green Ticket winners are chosen to take part in Friday's session.
🎵 Amazon Music 🎵
Pupils across the school started by requesting the songs they would like to be part of the radio station. If any parents would like to donate to our Amazon fund to purchase music for the radio then please gift any amount you can on an Amazon E-Gift Card to ccjradio@leoacademytrust.co.uk. We would be very grateful.
She would also like to pass on her heartfelt thanks to everyone who has donated and supported.
There is still time to donate here.
As the weather is warming up, please ensure that children have sunhats and a water bottle in school. Please ensure that children have applied sun cream in the morning.
Uniform reminder
Please ensure that children are wearing school shoes, or plain black trainers.
Additionally, a reminder that our PE kit consists of the following items: White T-shirt, red shorts or black/navy tracksuit bottoms and trainers. Our black training top and bottoms are also optional items in our PE kit.
Children across the school wrote a wishlist of the different books that they would like to see in their library and their classrooms.
We have collated this wishes and have put together an Amazon Wish List, which can be found here. If parents and families wish, there are over a hundred books that children are desperate to read on the list and these can be ordered as a present to our school. Alternatively, if you notice a book on the list that your children no longer read, we are always grateful for any donations!
It has also been suggested by our children that, on a birthday, rather than bringing sweets in for their classmates, children choose a book on the list that they would like to donate to their class. This also falls in line with our commitment to promoting healthy lifestyles. On the order, there is an option to leave a message - you can specify which class the book is for. As ever, we recognise that money can be tight so please note that this is entirely optional. Any support is always appreciated.
🏏 LEO Girls Dynamo Cricket: Last Friday afternoon, our Year 6 Girls were winners at the LEO Girls' Cricket tournament. Well done!
⚽ Sutton League Playoffs: On Wednesday afternoon, our Year 6 Boys' Football team competed in the Sutton League Playoff Final against St Dunstan's. As expected, the game was incredibly tight, ending 4-4, meaning that the game went to penalties. Despite an incredible performance from all players, Cheam Common lost out on penalties. We are so proud of our team. They are the Kendle League Winners! 🏆
⚽ Borough Cup Semi Final: On Thursday afternoon, our Year 6 Girls' Football team played against All Saints Carshalton in the Borough Cup Semi Final. It was a tough match and we are delighted to say that our girls won 3-0. With two goals from Alisa and one from Isabelle, the future is certainly bright for Cheam Common. We eagerly await details of the final later this term.
🎽 Borough Athletics: We were proud to send sixteen children to the Sutton Borough Athletics on Friday afternoon. We are so proud of all of the children and their attitudes shown throughout the afternoon. A particular highlight was our 4x400m relay team, who finished in third place. 🥉 Well done!
If you would like to share your child's achievements outside of school with us, we'd love to hear them! Please complete this short form to tell us all about it!
Elinor was invited to play in a youth exhibition game at the Pickleball England SLAM event in Kingston on Wednesday evening at the new dedicated pickleball venue that will be opening in 2025. She got to meet Greg Rusedski and Johanna Konta who were invited to play with the top four England pickleball players. She'd love to get her school friends playing too!
Last weekend, Scarlett came in first place in her gymnastics competition.
We are so proud of you, Scarlett!

SEND & Inclusion Updates
Young Carers at Cheam Common
At Cheam Common Junior Academy, we hold a weekly small group session to support children across the school who fulfil the role of ‘Young Carer’ because they have a sibling or parent with serious health issues, special educational needs or disabilities (SEND).
We want to celebrate the important role our Young Carers play, but also recognise that they may face challenges and pressures not shared by the general school population.
The group meets during assembly time and is led by Mrs Hart.
If you would like your child to take part please complete this form.
If you have any questions about the group, please feel free to contact us at ccjsend@leoacademytrust.co.uk
Please click here to access the Local Authority's Ambitious for SEND parent newsletter to stay in touch with what is happening in the local area. To receive these newsletters (three produced each year) please subscribe to the local area Ambitious for SEND newsletter. It is a great way to stay in touch with what is happening in the local area.
