Year 3 Drumming Showcase
As you are aware, the Year 3 children have been busy practising their drumming skills this
term. The children have been working very hard to create a drumming piece to perform to you all. We would like to invite you to come to a year group drumming performance. At this time, you will be able to see your child’s class, and the rest of the classes in the year, perform the drumming piece they have been working so hard on.
The performance will take place in the hall on Tuesday 29th November. It will commence at 2.15pm. You will be able to come in from 2.00pm to ensure we have a prompt start. The performance will last for approximately 45 minutes. If you are unable to attend, please do not worry, we will also film the performances and share them with you.
Final Children in Need Appeal!
Today, we have been celebrating Children in Need. Our children wore MUFTI to raise awareness and our School Council hosted a bake sale to raise money for this charity. Our JustGiving page will be closing over the weekend - if you would like to donate any money to this cause, please do so here.
Seeking Tree Surgeons! Help our Forest School
The logs that we have used as stools in our Forest School area are slowly starting to rot and are coming to the end of their lives. We are asking parents if they know any tree surgeons who could donate some new logs to our school? We are looking for approximately 20 logs to use as stools but every little helps. If you could help, please contact the office.
Order your Christmas cards now!
This week, you will have received a sticker and a leaflet with details on how to order the Christmas card that your child designed earlier this term. Simply follow this link and enter the details below.

Secondhand books and board games
Do you have any secondhand books or board games that you no longer need? At Cheam Common, we would appreciate donations of any of these items. Books are always appreciated and board games are extremely useful, especially during wet play! Simply drop these into the office or ask your child to hand them to their class teacher. Thank you for your support in advance!
Weekly School and Sporting News Stories
Year 6 Pupil Leadership Roles
Over the next few weeks, we would like to introduce some of the pupils who have taken up our Year 6 Pupil Leadership roles.
This week, we would like to introduce our new Heads of Sports Leaders. Arthav is our Cricket Captain and Isobel is a member of many of our sports team, including football and netball. Isobel and Arthav will work closely with Mr Ewing and Miss Brooks to ensure that there are new, exciting games for children to play on the playground. They also help to lead assemblies explaining the new crazes and games every week and will continue to help out with sports events, both at our school and at Cheam Common Infants.
Sutton Music Festival: Charlotte gets 3rd place!
At the weekend, Charlotte took part in the Sutton Music Festival and played Gavotte, by Jean Baptiste Loillet on the flute. We are incredibly pleased to announce that she was awarded 3rd place in the competition. Our children watched Charlotte perform this piece of music in Celebration Assembly today. Thank you and well done, Charlotte!
If your child has an achievement from outside of school that they would like to share with us, please email the school office. We'd love to hear all about it!
Sports Events
Tuesday: Our Y5 Boys' Football Team played against Manor Park in the first round of the Sutton & Cheam Cup. The boys managed a convincing win, which takes them through to the next round. Well done, boys!
Wednesday: Our Netball A and B team travelled to Dorchester to take part in their next league game. Despite the wet conditions, both teams managed to draw their games.
Thursday: Our Year 5 and 6 Athletics Squad attended the Indoor Athletics Heats at Wallington Girls on Thursday. There were a variety of events that our athletes took part in, including various sprinting races, javelin, long jump and ball throw. Overall, we were placed 2nd in the competition, out of eight teams.
Lunchtime helpers at Cheam Common Infants!
This week, some of our Year 5 children volunteered to go across the fence to help out at Cheam Common Infants during their lunch break. The year 5 children organised their own games and helped the younger children play games with one another. We were so proud to see how mature they were being and they said that they had a lovely time. This is something that we'd like to continue throughout the year. Well done, everyone!
144 Club: The 13-24 Edition!
We are extremely pleased to announce that two of our Year 5 children, Aadi and Woojeh successfully completed the 13-24 challenge edition of the 144 Club. They managed to answer 144 questions regarding the 13-24 times tables in under 5 minutes!
Some more of our Year 5 and 6 children will be taking on the challenge in the coming weeks. Good luck!
Remembrance Day Parades
On Sunday 13th November, many of our children took part in various Remembrance Day parades across our local area.
We were delighted to be sent in some photos by their parents for us to share and we are extremely proud of their achievements.

The group meets during assembly time and is led by Mrs Hart.
If you would like your child to take part please complete this form.
If you have any questions about the group, please feel free to contact us at ccjsend@leoacademytrust.co.uk

‘Small Change, Big Difference’ Parent Group for parents of children with a diagnosis of autism.'
We are also looking to host another Small Change, Big Difference course with Adapt to Learn. For those that are unfamiliar with this course, we run this as an alternative to the Early Bird programme. Some information about this is below.
If you are interested in attending this course, please email: sutton@nas.org.uk and we'll be in touch.
The aim is to empower parents, supporting them to help their children by developing an in-depth understanding of autism. Taking a positive approach, we will explore, share and discuss practical strategies to help develop communication skills, pre-empt and manage behaviour and gain confidence and resilience.
During the sessions, parents will be given the opportunity to make connections, gain support and feel less isolated.
Each course comprises of four x 1.5-hour sessions and will cover a range of topics.
