Please see our Year 4 Multiplication Tables Check results below. We are incredibly proud of our Year 4 children and the hard work that they have made into learning their times tables. This statutory assessment is aimed at ensuring that children have a strong understanding of their times tables by the time that they reach Year 5, therefore giving them a strong start to Year 5 and 6.
Please see our Year 6 SATs results below. In May, they took these statutory assessments in Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling, Maths and Reading. The writing score is based on teacher assessment.
We are incredibly proud of our Year 6 pupils and the hard work that they have put in. Even more importantly, we are confident that their time at Cheam Common has helped them develop into kind, confident and well-rounded individuals.
Thank you to those children who wore their outfits for Culture Day today. Sama and Melinda (3A) created the day based on wanting to celebrate the cultures, traditions and differences in our school! See below for some of our children wearing these outfits.
Sama and Melinda - well done on organising such a incredible day!
Thursday 18th July
On Thursday afternoon, classes in Year 3, 4 and 5 will be celebrating the end of the year by having class parties.
If your child would like to bring a change of clothes in and a board game, they are welcome to. This is completely optional. Children should still wear their uniform to school; they will have time to change later in the day. It is not necessary to bring snacks in, these are being provided by the Friends of Cheam Common.
Year 6 are not having an afternoon party as their celebrations continue long into the evening. Final details will be sent out next week.
Thursday 28th June
Last week, you will have seen lots of photos of our Year 6's Fiver Challenge afternoon.
We are pleased to announce that out children raised an incredible £1235.
This money will all be going towards the Year 6 Leavers' Celebrations next week. Thank you to those families who donated money to be spent at the afternoon.
Tuesday 16th July
On Tuesday afternoon, our Year 3 children will be showcasing their drumming to parents.
3A: 2:10-2:20pm
3F: 2:25-2:35pm
3S: 2:40-2:50pm
3T: 2:55-3:05pm
If you would like to attend, please complete this Google Form.
Mr Greaves, Miss Mills and Miss Eldridge have been busily organising Olympiad events for each year group. Each class has been allocated a country from across the world (see below for your child's class) which they will be representing in the sporting event. If you would like your child to wear that country's colours, that would be wonderful. If that is not possible, please do not worry!
Year 3: Wednesday 26th June ✅ - Winners: 3T (Hungary) 🇳🇱
Year 5: Tuesday 2nd July ✅ - Winners: 5M (Brazil) 🇧🇷
Year 6: Wednesday 10th July ✅ - Winners: 6SB: Great Britain and Northern Ireland 🇬🇧
Year 4: Tuesday 16th July
Your child should come to school wearing their PE kits on their year group's day.
Throughout the rest of the term, we will be inviting many children to have a slot on our radio station.
Every week, four Green Ticket winners are chosen to take part in Friday's session.
🎵 Amazon Music 🎵
Pupils across the school started by requesting the songs they would like to be part of the radio station. If any parents would like to donate to our Amazon fund to purchase music for the radio then please gift any amount you can on an Amazon E-Gift Card to ccjradio@leoacademytrust.co.uk. We would be very grateful.
As the weather is warming up, please ensure that children have sunhats and a water bottle in school. Please ensure that children have applied sun cream in the morning.
Uniform reminder
Please ensure that children are wearing school shoes, or plain black trainers.
Additionally, a reminder that our PE kit consists of the following items: White T-shirt, red shorts or black/navy tracksuit bottoms and trainers. Our black training top and bottoms are also optional items in our PE kit.
Children across the school wrote a wishlist of the different books that they would like to see in their library and their classrooms.
We have collated this wishes and have put together an Amazon Wish List, which can be found here. If parents and families wish, there are over a hundred books that children are desperate to read on the list and these can be ordered as a present to our school. Alternatively, if you notice a book on the list that your children no longer read, we are always grateful for any donations!
It has also been suggested by our children that, on a birthday, rather than bringing sweets in for their classmates, children choose a book on the list that they would like to donate to their class. This also falls in line with our commitment to promoting healthy lifestyles. On the order, there is an option to leave a message - you can specify which class the book is for. As ever, we recognise that money can be tight so please note that this is entirely optional. Any support is always appreciated.
Thank you to Leah (3T) for her generous donation to her class' library!
🏆⚽ Borough Cup Final: On Tuesday afternoon, our Year 6 Girls' Football Team took part in the Sutton Borough Cup Final. They had been building up to this throughout the year. Our opponents were Barrow Hedges on a particularly rainy afternoon at Shawley Primary. However, our girls rose to the occasion and won the game 7-1! Goals came from Alisa (1), Alma (1), Isabelle (2) and a hatrick from Jas! What an achievement - we are so proud of them!
🏐 Primary Schools National Dodgeball Finals: On Wednesday, our Dodgeball Team took part in the National Finals, held in Nottingham. This team had made it through the borough heats and the regional heats earlier in the year. The team stayed overnight in a hotel to ensure that they had enough rest (although they did stay up to watch the England Men's Team!). Throughout the tournament on Wednesday, our team faced extremely tough opponents. We are so proud to say that they finished 3rd in their group. What a phenomenal achievement!
🏅 Year 6 Olympiad: On Wednesday morning, our Year 6 chidren took part in their Olympiad event. It was the closest contest so far, with 6SB coming out on top, having represented Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Well done!
🤯 Careers Fair: On Wednesday afternoon, we invited 30 parents into school to take part in our inaugural Careers Fair! We wanted to give the children a chance to broaden their horizons and see the array of opportunities that are out there for them when they grow up. Children asked briliant questions and we were so impressed by all of the fantastic parents. Thank you so much to those who gave up their afternoons - we can't wait to do it all over again next year!
🎸 Rocksteady Performances: On Friday morning, our Rocksteady rockstars took to the stage twice, to perform to both their families and the rest of the school. Well done!
🎾 Wimbledon Championships: For the third year in a row, we were successful in securing eight tickets to Wimbledon for Cheam Common children. Eight children in Year 5 were lucky enough to be chosen and have spent the day exploring the grounds of the world-famous tennis venue. We had Court 1 tickets so spent the afternoon watching the Ladies' Doubles Semi Finals.
Elizabeth (5M)
Elizabeth and her teamed secured 2nd place in her cheerleading competition on Friday at Bournemouth Future Cheer International. What an achievement, well done! 🥈
Isabella (3F)
Isabella took part in a dancing competition on Sunday “Stars of Tomorrow” with her group in the Junior debut category and they managed to secure 1st place. 🥇

SEND & Inclusion Updates
Young Carers at Cheam Common
At Cheam Common Junior Academy, we hold a weekly small group session to support children across the school who fulfil the role of ‘Young Carer’ because they have a sibling or parent with serious health issues, special educational needs or disabilities (SEND).
We want to celebrate the important role our Young Carers play, but also recognise that they may face challenges and pressures not shared by the general school population.
The group meets during assembly time and is led by Mrs Hart.
If you would like your child to take part please complete this form.
If you have any questions about the group, please feel free to contact us at ccjsend@leoacademytrust.co.uk
