School Updates
Goodbye, Mrs Madia!
Today, we said goodbye to the wonderful Mrs Madia, who is relocating with her family to Dubai.
Mrs Madia has spent three years with us at Cheam Common and we are so sad to see her go. The children of 5M have been spoiling her all day and are looking forward to her coming back for class photos (18th June!)
Mrs Madia wanted to leave a parting gift to our children and has purchased a huge selection of books from our wishlist to donate to the school.
Thank you for everything, Mrs Madia!
Congratulations, Miss Austin!
We are overjoyed to announce that Miss Austin has given birth to a beautiful baby girl. Josie arrived early last Friday morning and weighed a healthy 6 pounds 11 ounces.
We are so happy for both Miss Austin and her new family, and can't wait to meet the little one.
LEO Radio
We are sure you will have heard from your children that we have started our very own school radio station this week! We welcomed into school, Russell Prue, who has been training teachers and children in how the radio station works.
We received over 170 requests from children in Years 3, 4 and 5 to take part in a training session after school. These sessions were limited to sixteen children per day so were chosen randomly. Every child in school will have an opportunity to work on the radio in the coming months.
Tuesday: Live show Wednesday: CCJ Sports broadcast Thursday: Live show
🎵 Amazon Music 🎵
Pupils across the school started by requesting the songs they would like to be part of the radio station. If any parents would like to donate to our Amazon fund to purchase music for the radio then please gift any amount you can on an Amazon E-Gift Card to ccjradio@leoacademytrust.co.uk We would be very grateful.
Food bank collection - volunteers
Thank you to the families who brought in donations for DONS Local Action Group today. It is incredible to see such empathy being demonstrated and modelled to our children.
We are hoping to organise food bank donations dropoffs weekly in the summer term. However, this would require a few helpful volunteers to collect and organise these donations.
If you are interested in giving up a little time and would like us to put you in touch with these organisers, please complete this short Google Form.
Thank you in advance!

Our Book Wishlist
Children across the school wrote a wishlist of the different books that they would like to see in their library and their classrooms.
We have collated this wishes and have put together an Amazon Wish List, which can be found here. If parents and families wish, there are over a hundred books that children are desperate to read on the list and these can be ordered as a present to our school. Alternatively, if you notice a book on the list that your children no longer read, we are always grateful for any donations!
It has also been suggested by our children that, on a birthday, rather than bringing sweets in for their classmates, children choose a book on the list that they would like to donate to their class. This also falls in line with our commitment to promoting healthy lifestyles. On the order, there is an option to leave a message - you can specify which class the book is for. As ever, we recognise that money can be tight so please note that this is entirely optional. Any support is always appreciated.

SEND & Inclusion Updates
Young Carers at Cheam Common
At Cheam Common Junior Academy, we hold a weekly small group session to support children across the school who fulfil the role of ‘Young Carer’ because they have a sibling or parent with serious health issues, special educational needs or disabilities (SEND).
We want to celebrate the important role our Young Carers play, but also recognise that they may face challenges and pressures not shared by the general school population.
The group meets during assembly time and is led by Mrs Hart.
If you would like your child to take part please complete this form.
If you have any questions about the group, please feel free to contact us at ccjsend@leoacademytrust.co.uk
Please click here to access the Local Authority's Ambitious for SEND parent newsletter to stay in touch with what is happening in the local area. To receive these newsletters (three produced each year) please subscribe to the local area Ambitious for SEND newsletter. It is a great way to stay in touch with what is happening in the local area.
